Suggestion

If this is what's happening to you, you can take the gearshift level and move it to M and back to D, and that'll reset the logic.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I've had a couple of occasions when I have accelerated moderately but have subsequently lifted off the gas... The engine continues to rev highly as if it expects me to continue accelerating... It has happened at low speeds, between about 40-60kmph. I have either accelerated to make use of the additional revs & the car has then returned to normal gearing, or i have manually changed the gear up to stop it revving... Is it something I am doing or is it something in my head... might I be developing gearbox problems? Has anyone heard of anything similar before... My guess is that I just need to adjust my driving slightly to stop the behavior...

POST 2Original post

If you hit the kick-down or accelerate hard enough for the transmission to downshift and lift abruptly, it thinks you want to GO GO GO and will generally stay in that gear for another few seconds before deciding you're done with accelerating and upshift to the highest appropriate gear. If this is what's happening to you, you can take the gearshift level and move it to M and back to D, and that'll reset the logic. Or you can manually tap the shift buttons. Lifting more smoothly off the gas should help it better guess which gear you want to be in.

POST 3Original post

Thanks sjfehr, you are indeed right. It's just me and the car not seeing eye to eye... A subtle adjustment in my driving will sort things out.
