Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Happened to mine a few months back, it was thankfully changed under warranty.

Suggestion
could be the presure relief valve (normaly a spring loaded ball bearing in a drilling ) sticking , has the car been standing for a while is an oil change due or over due ?
Leading evidence: 'Replace under warranty' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'sender unit' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace due or over due' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
Probably a sender unit on its way out or a stuck oil pressure relief valve in the oil pump.

Set off on a long motorway journey, and after half an hour or so I noticed that my oil pressure was still right at the top, bang on 5, and temperature was slightly higher than normal (normally sits right on the 80, and it was slightly above).
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Odd thing happened Saturday. Set off on a long motorway journey, and after half an hour or so I noticed that my oil pressure was still right at the top, bang on 5, and temperature was slightly higher than normal (normally sits right on the 80, and it was slightly above).
I pulled into a service station to get a coffee and give her a few minutes to settle down. When I restarted, the oil pressure on idle was sensible for warm at around 2.5, and when I got back up to speed the temp stayed at 80 and the oil pressure at motorway speed was nearer 4 (where I would expect it to be from past experience)
It was almost as though something had been stuck clogging the system (gunk in the filter?) and increasing the back pressure (where in the circuit is the oil pressure sensor?), and then the temporary halt allowed it to sort itself out. Is that even possible? She's due for a service so maybe it was just a reminder that an oil change is required!?

Sender on it's way out probably. Mine started playing games like that then started intermittantly dropping to 0 with a message warning. New sender solved the issue.
could be the presure relief valve (normaly a spring loaded ball bearing in a drilling ) sticking , has the car been standing for a while is an oil change due or over due ? try some flushing oil next change it my never happen again if the oils ok just keep an eye on it

Yep. Probably a sender unit on its way out or a stuck oil pressure relief valve in the oil pump. Sometimes a bit of debris in the oil from somewhere can Jam it briefly.
Similar symptoms on the turbo and scared the whootsits out of me when it dropped to zero!!! Cured by a new sender at £35 plus local indie labour at around £100 but part of a bigger bill. Did not effect the temp gauge reading though.
Good luck sorting it.
