I went to go get some lunch this afternoon and it seems that my shifter(manual) is stuck in first. The engine starts normally no issue and the clutch works fine as well. I didn't want force it too hard and break something else. I would assume a shift cable failure would make the shifter loose not stuck.
Are you sure the clutch is working fine? If it's not releasing, it will be hard to move the shifter.
You are correct, if the shift cable is broken the shifter will be loose and floppy. The only thing might be if the shift cable end popped off and became lodged on something under the car.
Time to crawl under and have a look, or tow to your favorite service center.
Yeah clutch seems fine, It will roll down my driveway clutch in and I first works fine for going back up the driveway. I popped the shift boot off and everything looks fine on the shifter end. I guess I need to jack it up and look at the transmission end.
Turns out there was a nut from a palm tree stuck between the selector wheel and the transmission case that wasn't letting it move. I removed the nut and everything is good to go now definitely happy nothing was actually broken.
Hard to believe a palm nut would jump up there on its own. You might have some critter looking for a place to store them.
That would make sense I guess. Otherwise that was the unluckiest acorn bounce of all time!
Sure would have loved a picture. Lol
There didn't seem to be any evidence of creatures, I think I just happen to have an unlucky bounce. I didn't even thinking anything of it when I first so I just tapped it and fell down and rolled away.
It's nice when a transmission problem is fixed for zero $$$$$. Shew.
This seems to be a case of even a blind selector wheel finds a nut every once in a while! Glad it worked out to be a simple issue for you.
Wow, so it really was the "nut behind the wheel"! Glad that was all it was. I got stuck in 4th gear and had to
feather
it home after the shifter cable end cracked off.
