Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I'm in the process of removing a sports exhaust off my 996tt and replacing it....but to my horror I looked underneath and realised that the bolts holding the exhaust is actually part of the turbo unit I'm a bit (VERY) worried just in case I end up snapping a few bolts....will I need to replace the turbo units or is there a quick and easy fix? I will order some gaskets and bolts from Porsche tomorrow but would really appreciate any advice on this one please? Its in for a service this wkend and I am tempted in taking it down and getting them to fix it which might cost me between 2 and 4 hours labour rate :nooo: not good!! Cheers

POST 2Original post

The nuts tend to crumble before the studs if it's rusty, generally they can get very rusty. I did one on my own but it took me a day ! Had to use a rounded nut remover which actually worked a treat. If you do knacker a stud tho it will be a PITA.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Senoj PITA!??!! I'm guessing thats another word for ***** ? c: The nuts defo look in bad shape I have a feeling whoever put the sports exhaust on used the same old nuts the tight gits I assume you replaced the 2 gaskets and installed new bolts? I dont mind spending a day on it...better than paying £200+ to get someone else to do it.

POST 4Original post

Had the same problem on my C4. Took it down to Design 911 and they replaced the bolts/nuts in under an hour!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh right so the bolts and nuts can be replaced? Right it might be worth me doing that instead of messing around under the car lol. Got the car booked in this wkend and I might get a quote to get the nuts and bolts replaced i.e. put a new exhaust in Thanks
