Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
The fact that you were on the other side of the road in France suggests that it is most likely a camber issue.
Leading evidence: 'camber issue' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'camber issue' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check missing plastic rivets and any loose bendy bits' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi chaps
My car hads developed a strange vibrating noise from the front left wheel area. It only happens above 95mph and is a very loud (buzzy) vibration that sounds like its caused by an imperfection in the road, like those raised white lines on the edge of motorways. I thought it was just that as it first started happening on the M40, but then it doesn't happen everytime I go over 95 and it happens on all sorts of roads, even county lanes. But again, its not happening all the time.
I have had a good look at all the trim in that area, wheel arch liners included and its all secure. Obviously I can't see what it is as I am driving and its definitely outside the car. its not the wipers so really i have no idea.
I had a similar problem on a 924 years ago and it was a piece of windscreen trim but that was easily sorted and happened EVERY time I went over 80.
Anyone know what it could be? :dont know:
Cheers
Hi bobsan
The only piece of loose trim I can find is a silly little flap at the very front of the drivers side front wheel arch at the bottom. The passenger side is fixed but this one pulls out. Don't think its that as it sounds as though its from the passenger side.
Could the flap be the culprit?
Cheers
This is getting stranger and stranger!
On the trip to Le Mans the noise happened on the way to the ferry, then in France - nothing. Back in the UK it happened again.
WTF? :dont know:
It s long shot but how old is the car ... at the back of the front disc is a thin metal heat shield between the disk and the wheel hub.. could be its split and buzzing .. the bottom part of the shield sometimes get bent causing a split creating a loose flap to hang down have you had any metal on metal grating sounds? or had any work done on the front....
Phil
:nooo:
Hi Phil
Thanks for the reply, I haven't had anywork done on the front recently, its a 2004 with 37,400 miles. No metal on metal sounds as its got PCCB's all very wierd.
I will have a look at the heatshield anyway.
Anyone else got any clues?
Cheers
Ben
The fact that you were on the other side of the road in France suggests that it is most likely a camber issue. Perhaps need to get the geometry checked out?
