4) Even if the tips did fit and didn't need to be moved about an inch towards the center, they'd still need to be pushed out or they will scorch the top of the openings as I learned yesterday using my fabspeed ovals which fit but are way too small for the dual tip openings on the bumper ( and they are the mk2's which are longer.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was expecting to post some pics tonight of my new RS bumper... It's painted, it's on and I just needed to throw on my new quad tip Fabspeeds right? Not. They don't fit. The bumper is meant to have dual tips, look at their pictures. It appears I'm off to the welder to fabricate something that will work. The new Fabspeed tips are badass and that coupled with the bumper and dectane lights was going to look great. So here is what fellow 6speeders need to know: 1) Overall bumper fit is good (to body) as they show in their video. 2) Shipping, I think they need to use s bigger box. The bumper comes with the sides folded inwards. They say sit it in the sun or use a heat gun. I sat it in the sun and my body guy used a heat gun but the sides vents were still a bit deformed. I ended up tacking the urethane to the mesh vents for now to keep the form thatnshould be there. 3) Because the exhaust openings are more inward, you have to bend/cut the heat shield. Not a big deal but this gets back to the problem of the openings not fitting the alignment of quad tips. So bumper is awesome looking but plan on a fabrication to your exhaust tips to make everything fit. I'll post pics of what I end up doing as maybe the shop can find some play in the exhaust to make fitment easier.

POST 3Original post

I was thinking of getting the Turbo front lip and the TK wing, but now I'm not sure.

POST 4Original post

I know your pain... I have the GT3Tek rear diffusor and the tail pipes have been a tight fit. I was able to make it work though but it took a lot of adjusting on the tail pipes.

POST 5Original post

I'm really waiting to hear more about this bumper for my 2002, i want to order it..we neeeeeeeeed pics & details of the exhaust thin...

POST 7Original post

ok waiting please! Also hope you take from many angles & explain the install + muffler issue in a bit more detail thanks...1 more question, does tthe new bumper FILL OUT THE BACK? sit nice and lower than the regular rear bumper??

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here is a quick pic. As you can see, the exhaust opening is off on these bumpers. Also, the license plate light holes were off. The rest of the figment is good and love the vents. They are silver now but may go black. Going to shop for fabrication Monday.

POST 9Original post

Thanks Joe, would have liked to see one kind of from a side angle to really see what it looks like & if it makes the back look nice and full...i'm really ready to order one i think...my car looks nice, low, full except in the back

POST 10Original post

Those taillights and rear bumper make the rear of your car look amazing!! I wouldn't careless if I had to fabricate the tips to have that look. I have yet to find an aftermarket company that doesnt require fabrication and I have been dealing with aftermarket companies since I was 15. The modifactions you had to do are on the good side. Most bumpers you have to shave and remoid to make a perfect fitment. I would rate this bumper a well worth buy.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 3641773

Quote: I agree, Other than that excellent fit and I look forward to getting the tips on. I have a fiberglass front bumper on its way and expect some issues at half the price but outside of clear side markers every mod has an issue or two.

POST 12Original post

Well guys, as much as i like this bumper, i went ahead and took a chance & ordered the Prior design rear bumper, cuz i liked the diffuser + how the tail pipes go through the bumper...its FRP not Poly so we will see how the quality turns out..i'll be writing a full review on it once i get..

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That was my other choice, but was worried about FRP as well. Great look though. Yes post pics and fit.

POST 14Original post

There's another guy with a blue mk1 running the prior design rear bumper. It looks really good. I'm not sure how much prep work he needed though.

POST 15Original post

Get anywhere with this yet? or still waiting to do exhaust?

POST 16Original post

Sorry to hear about the issues you're having, but that bumper does look really good otherwise.

POST 17Original post

OK back from welder. He said it was a complete pain with being off by inches so he had to fabricate and spent a few hours getting them in place. After all the extra nonsense and cost, it does look sweet.

POST 24Original post

I know this is an old thread but wondered if there are any updates? I see under the trunk lid and along the top of the bumper it is wavy. Looks warped. I think the issues is folding it and stuffing it in a box to save on shipping is the main issue. Its a great looking bumper but the waviness along the trunk to bumper gap is poor and not what I would expect on a Porsche.

POST 25Original post

Quotes source post: 4317699

If they think this bumper fits, they need glasses You are correct, it's wavy/warped. trunk to bumper gap is poor and not what I would expect on a Porsche.. Yes... I think the issues is folding it and stuffing it in a box to save on shipping is the main issue..... That's how they do it....even if you pay extra for a bigger box it gets stuffed. Who ever heard of getting something and being told, well sit it in the sun or use a heat gun to make it correct. If it comes like that it'll NEVER fit correctly..IMO. Quote:

POST 26Original post

I dont get it, even in their video on the teal one, there is a huge gap under the left tail light and almost no gap under the right. I would be pissed if that was my car. looks like I will be sticking with stock.

The hardtop on the cabrio with the bumper is way to busy with too many hard lines. Looks to fast and furious for my taste.

POST 29Original post

The Prior design rear bumper is really good looking, very curious on how your fitment works out. My only issue is my car came with Factory Stainless Steel Quad Tips an $1100.00 option when new, they sure would not look right with the Prior, but that would make look for a set of Tubi Style Tips.

I'm more concerned about my Fabspeed quad style tips may not fit but we'll see. Gonna take a measurement in the morning when I drop off the car. I'll keep you posted.

POST 33Original post

I had the gt3tek bumper and main complaint was they didn't cut the license light holes correctly. Took forrrreever to get right. I recommended they change it but didn't have any wavy lines. I know the paint shop wasn't happy about the shipment but it turned out fine after applying heat. I'm sure they didn't want to do any work besides paint.

POST 39Original post

Quotes source post: 4326175

Quote: The bumper cover , that I'm wanting to keep on both sides of the plate would be in front of the tow hook opening. There are no cutouts on the Prior Design and the tow hook access is behind the license plate on my 04 996. I think without the bumper covers, the distance from the sides to the license will be too much ( to me ). Check the poi and please let me know if you think I have other options. Am also having Speedster Style humps done at same time......Thanks.

POST 40Original post

Quotes source post: 4326223

Quote: The Prior bumper along with a few others are "Euro style" meaning they are European market for the wider Euro plates. Just like US guys like to swap out pumpkins for the clear indicators, there are quite a few that wanna complete the Euro look with US bumper deletes. Yes these are only put on for us dumb Americans due to DOT and all the other stupid legislation that comes through. Personally I like cleaner look without the US bumperettes.
