So a few days ago my
2007 cayman
base 2.7 started leaking oil from the lower elbow on the AOS noticed there wasnt a clamp securing it so i figured if i had to take it apart i was going to replace the AOS and the lower elbow tube
I got it all replaced but the lower vent line snapped i slid some plastic hose over it and secured it with hose clamps just to get it started until the new line arrives in about four days.
However when i started the car it isnt idling properly after it warms up the idle jumps to about 12-1400 rpm when i blip the throttle it goes back down but then it idles bumpy and jumps back up after a few seconds like a vacuum leak it drives fine i took it around the block and power wise and drivability it acts normal until i push the clutch in and it goes to idle then it gets bumpy and jumps up to 12-1400 rpm.
I took the throttle body and intake tubes off and it was full of oil and i mean there was alot of oil in the intake tubes
im assuming the lower vent line is probably cracked somewhere else and causing my problems there wasnt that much oil in the intake tubes before i replaced the AOS wondering if anyone might have any ideas as to where i should check
next
. The lower vent line is on the way already the upper vent line is good i took it back off and checked it out could the lower vent line be causing it to dump oil in the intake or do i have another problem
Is the lower line a "vent" or a vacuum connection to the AOS? (Have a .2 which has a different AOS).. if it's the vacuum connection for the diaphragm in the AOS then that being cracked would account for both symptoms of high-idle (due to vacuum air leak) and oil in the lines (AOS not working correctly due to lack of vacuum.)
I suspect replacing that line will solve your issues.
Could the oil scavenge pump on back side of motor cause any of this issue i raised car back up and seems like its leaking too
Disregard the oil scavenge pump leak it appears the passengers side rear camshaft plug is missing
