Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

So if you did a lot of testing on your HIDs without running the engine that might be it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi there,
I've just come to start my car. When I turn the key I hear a very rapid and loud clicking noise, my dash display flickers, and that's it. It won't start.
It doesn't sound like a flat battery to me - there's still power (dash, windows etc.).
What else could it be?!
I've no idea why it's decided to censor the word fl1ck3r5
The car hasn't been used in a week and a half, so that could be it. Or it could be linked to the fact that I installed a set of HIDs yesterday...
I think it is a flat battery.
Do I win a prize?
The rapid clicking is all the high current initiation relays failing to latch (lock ON). They click closed, then click open continuously as there is no high current to latch them closed.
In a slightly more helpful mode...
I once drained the battery on my wife's car by putting her Xenons on to light up an area while I did a job. They weren't on for a particularly long time, maybe half an hour but the nice patient AA man later explained to me they drink a lot of juice.
So if you did a lot of testing on your HIDs without running the engine that might be it. On the other hand if it happens again might you have a short to earth in your new custom mountings for the HIDs? (Having read your other post)
Just a NOTE IF YOUR BATTERY DRAINS RIGHT DOWN YOU CANNOT GET IN THE BOOT OR BONNET SO BE WARNED!!!!
IF THIS HAPPENS YOU GOT PROBLEMS... YOU WILL BE FACED WITH TRYING TO FIND EMERGENCY RELEASE CABLES OR PUTTING POWER THROUGH YOU FUSE BOX....
SO IF YOU PLAN ON PARKING UP FOR A LONG TIME IN THE GARAGE CRACK THE BONNET SO YOU CAN GET AT THE BATTERY FOR A RECHARGE OR IF YOU ARE DOING A JOB THAT MIGHT OF DRAINED THE BATTERY..
