Suggestion

I can't understand the no-start problem since many of us are running aftermarket radios in our cars that have no idea what car they're in, and the car knows nothing about them.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hi-I’m new to this forum, so thx in advance I replaced a CDR-30 (worked fine previous owner painted it red) with a new Porsche CDR-30 …pain getting out but finally did..it’s not working, funny, the car wouldn’t start when CDR wasn’t plugged in, started as soon as I plugged in the new one..so I’m assuming it’s plugged in correctly. But nothing! Does it need to be programmed? Is there a reset that needs to happen?

POST 2Original post

When you say "nothing" - it doesn't light up? If that's the case it's likely it's faulty. It was brand new? It's possible the CDR-30 has an pairing anti-theft coding (to the car's VIN#) required for it to perform, but even if the code wasn't entered - I would expect it should light up and ask for the code. This doesn't show in the excellent DIY guide I found by Googling a bit: PORSCHE A2DIY-CDR30 Music Streaming Radio User Guide - Manuals+ In that manual - note what they say about the green connector. It's not clear if it has to be used or shouldn't be used. BTW - welcome to Planet-9 Forums - the Friendly Porsche Forum. Don thx for the quick reply…the CDR is new and no nothing. The interesting thing was unplugged the car wouldn’t start, plugged in started right up. So I’m guessing it’s recognizing it. I’ll review the manual u sent later this am hopefully I’ll figure it out. “356rehab” my restorer let me work with him over 5 years to restore my 60’ 356 Roadster. Wife says I should’ve left the “rehab” out it suggests other issues….also I went to New Member Intro I can’t seem to find anywhere I can submit a profile..like the CDR I’m sure it’s obvious I just can’t figure it out

POST 4Original post

No problem. I can't understand the no-start problem since many of us are running aftermarket radios in our cars that have no idea what car they're in, and the car knows nothing about them. Maybe the anti-theft system checks to see if a radio is present (measure current draw possibly) and if not figures the car is stolen. But - this is the first I've heard fo this.

POST 5Original post

Don-thx for all the responses…finally I just called Suncoast Porsche and they said the CDR has to be programmed by a Porsche dealer…so in it goes, hopefully this does the trick! This is the Mrs’ car, so she’s ready to get back in the road! Cheers Mark

Even the 986 required a four digit factory code the dealer happily provided to second owners when first owners lost said code for an "additional" fee. If I remember correctly any interruption of battery power required the use of this code to reestablish function.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
