Very frustrating, a massive speed bump that had three distinct sides to it cracked the hell out of my fibreglass front splitter yesterday. Got it home and it was in two bits but still held to the car.
It's fibreglass which although looks brilliant when perfect, it's not ideal as realistaically as should be made of some kind of poly/rubber material with a degree of flex in it- one wrong move when parking and it would suffer badly from a kerb anyway.
I will repair and respray it in due course but might also make a new one, something a bit smaller. I believe some people have taken two Gen 1 Seat Leon Cupra R splitters and made one for their Porsches? I did something similar to an Audi TT many years ago and ended up looking quite good.
Anyway, this is how it looks presently. Not ideal but gives me so muh more ground clearance at the cost of cosmetics. Any ideas or other opinions on a replacement- let me know. I don't want to spend silly money on one as the risk of something like this happening again is moderately high in my area.
Dang, that's a shame. Mine hasn't cracked or split yet, but it's getting pretty well scraped along the bottom. I guess one might need the OEM size if/when tracking the car, but I like your idea of a smaller lip there. Actually, I kind of like the look your car is sporting now, for what that's worth.
Best,
George
Thanks George, appreciate that. Well, I'm stuck with the look for a while anyway so will see how I get used to it!
You can find several flexible urethane options on Ebay for a very low cost that look similar. There are even universal kits that look almost the same as your splitter. They are made of a flexible rubber like material that attaches to the stock front lip like yours does, but can be trimmed to fit and/or capped on the ends.
Here is just one example of a Porsche specific urethane splitter:

hi Despicable.... sorry to hear about your splitter experience... george_L has a point it kinda looks quite nice as is as you have a lowered stance.
ICNU is right - go with flexible PU material instead of fibre and you'll have less stress over speed humps. The one he posted looks quite nice too!
personally, I like the stock splitters which give me a bit more ground clearance as I live in the city and have ramps/multi storey car parks, speed humps and large flash floods to deal with!
Legend, thanks for the link. I'll have a look for one I think. Not too pricey either which is nice.
Thanks mate, I am in the same boat- car is not too low for most things but speed bumps are vicious around here so fibreglass just won't cut it!
