Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys
Will soon be starting the search for a good mk1 and have been thinking about the colours they came in (obv. i'll be buying on condition as priority!)
As they're few and far between in Scotland, i've only seen two - zanzibar and speed yellow. I thought the yellow was stunning but don't know if I could live with it
Anyone seen a mk1 in white? Is it the new silver?
Dunc
If it's RHD you're looking for, here are the colours the UK registered cars were in (thanks to titanic.co.uk for the information):
Arctic Silver 34
Black 13
Polar Silver 4
Biarritz White 1
Speed Yellow 18
Guards Red 15
Cobalt Blue 1
Zanzibar Red 9
Iris Blue 6
Ocean Blue 1
Forest Green 1
Blue Metallic(to colour sample- a Renault Blue) 1
Rubystone 1
Blue Turquoise 1
So yes, there is one white one out there somewhere
- not as fast as the Zanzibar ones though.
Nice bit of info there Jeremy - cheers. Suspect that you're slightly biased on colour tho
Looks like arctic silver and speed yellow are popular. Think i'm swaying more towards black or zanzibar for a change. Would like to see one in white tho

Zanzibar is THE quintessential Mk 1 GT3 colour

Only kidding folks........ getscoatandlegsit !

O yummy ... There's a rainforest Green one out there ...
I wonder if they did the right thing and gave it a Savannah interior..
A mate of mine used to own the green one...black interior, cage etc. A few choice upgrades as well IIRC.
Dunc, I have a Speed Yellow MK 1 GT3 and think it looks fantastic. Zanzibar is another cracking colour. A few years ago I could never imagine owning a yellow car but the GT3 looks best IMO in the more 'look at me' colours than sober ones but as you say there can't be that many kicking around in Scotland. Hope you get one soon.

Isn't rubystone a bit pinky?
In a monkey-bum kind of way.
I reckon a Rubystone GT3 would certainly get you noticed.
Either would do me!!

Can anyone "host/post" a Zanzibar picture for me if I E mail it to them ?
Slippy
No problem Slippy: email me through my profile so I have your address and we'll sort out getting the pictures up.
Well, the Zanzibar crew have to stick together .....
Geoff - I saw a Speed Yellow mk1 at an OPC and it looked real good covered in flies/dirt and with the spoiler adjusted up as though it meant business. Doesn't it attract a bit too much 'look at me interest'?
Greig - it was probably yours I saw heading over the kincardine bridge a few months back.

Dunc, the 'look at me' factor is what I love about it! GT3's look great in most colours though I don't think I could get on with rainforest green!
Zanzibar is a weird colour - it doesn't print well. But, it looks really amazing in the flesh. I think there may be a Manthey'd Zanibar on the market very shortly. Failing that, my silver GT3 can be had at the right price...

Wow, that was a quick spell with your Mk1?!
The advice i received from all of you on this site was spot on.....buy the car not the colour.
That said - they all look so purposeful in any colour. Until recently, if I saw a porsche in Speed yellow I thought...what a c*ck. Now I have a mark 1 in said colour and maybe I look a c*ck.....still the best car I ever owned!!
Good luck.
IMO it is of little relevance what colour a 911 is, the model speaks as much for the owner as it does the car itself. Maybe I am a bit strange but the model is important, not the colour. Having said that, there are colours that I would NOT have.

House buying may require the car to find a new home. I'm not desperate for it to go, of course, but house moves etc take priority at the mo.
As i've mentioned previously I'd always buy on condition / car before colour. I was just interested in a quick poll of opinion and it was interesting to see the figures for how many of each colour.
Some good responses so far i think as its tricky to choose with so few available colours and some people are more 'into' a certain colour than others.
Don't think i'll be fully in the market til post 997gt3 release anyway so i'll se what happens to the values.
Dunc
Thanks, I like it !!!
As John says, it doesn't "work" as a colour on the printed page (except for the original Evo roadtest when they tested it in Germany whereby it looked stunning)
The first time I saw a Zanzibar coloured car was on a Boxster in the depths of winter (it looked positively hideous)
I then saw a GT3 in bright sunlight and it was love at second sight !
The "bubbles" picture was taken on Saturday afternoon after a downpour ( the sun reappeared within 20 minutes) it's a pretty good indicator as to what the colour looks like "in the flesh" on a really bright day.
Agreed, buying a car such as this should be based on condition not on colour, but I'd still only have a Speed Yellow, Zanzibar Red or a Black one !! No offence to you gents with Artic or Polar silver cars

Mk 1 GT3's look utterly fabulous on a sunny day like today in Lapis Blue.
