I know a couple of folks at the show are looking out for people coming in from the Cayman Club, just wondered if you ran into any of them.

a real home run with that color selection, Cobalt & Sand will be at the top of everyone's list now when they're thinking about color combos.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

From Porsche featured two cars at Detroit Auto Show:World Premiere of the Cayenne Turbo S and the NorthAmerica Premiere of the Cayman S (not sure the organizers of the LA Auto Show would agree, but that dispute isnot of our concern). These two cars shareda rotating circular platform, similarto but larger than the one used in Frankfurt, Mexico and I suppose is now standard practice. Cayman S was cobalt blue/beige interior with full interior trim color to match. Only other Cayman S wasArctic Silver(I didn't even bother tocheck interior as I will be staring atmy ownin my daily drives/garage beginning this Saturday). Also interesting was a Cayman S enginedisplay thatshowedvarious components exploded out (hard to describe so I hope my pictures will suffice). Oh, forgot to mentionan RS Spyder was also on displace (Mr. Roger Penske was alsohanging around in the Lounge area).
Now as to whatinformation I think I can share. 1. Sales targets are being exceeded and PAG will announce their new volume targetsperhaps later this month. 2. Vast majority of the Cayman S orders are pure incremental growth (not coming from trade in of Boxster or 911) from new Porsche buyers. 3. Actual cannibalization rate from 911 owners is much less than what was assumed (mid single digit percentage). What this implies is that, if maintained, Porsche can further develop the Cayman's performance envelopewithout jeopardizing the 911 model
I don't thinkmuch else needs to be said, with Jan. 14th launch datethis weekend and a number of us about to disappear for a while as we drive the car to our heart's content./fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/drive.gif
If I fail to properly insert some pictures from today, look for them in the image galleries. Cheers!
RussK, these interior shots are for you!

wow, isn't that Russ' car (cobalt/sand beige)? You'd think we'd be seeing lots of pictures of the Cayman at Detroit but haven't seen any (just that freaky Camaro)
schao,
I will help you get the pics posted if the ones you have are too large. Did you tell people there you were with the Cayman Club? I know a couple of folks at the show are looking out for people coming in from the Cayman Club, just wondered if you ran into any of them.
K-Man S, didn't know I had image manager to resize until you told me about it, thx. Didn't mention CaymanClub to anyone, sorry, but tell them to see this post toprove that one of us was present./fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/hi.gif
schao,
Thanks for the great pics. I think the Cobalt Blue and Sand Beige look fantastic. I especially enjoyed the sand beige pics since I have not seen it as often. I think I will be pleased with it as my choice.
I must say the car looks good in blue /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thumbsup.gif The engine picture was interesting - I hope they bring that display for the local car show.
schao,
Can you divulge the source of the Sales figures? If not by name at least where in the pecking order they are?
Excellent photos.
What was the the level of interest in the Porsche exhibit in Detroit?
The lighting gives Cobalt a greater metallic appearance than I originally expected or observed in other photos, maybe its the artificial (halogen?) lighting of the show. It looks fantastic. I only hope that my carmon red metallic looks as good. Same sand beige interior....Thanks schao! Ciao schao!
Great images. The sand beige interior looks great.
Question: in the photo of the passenger side, it looks like there is a vent directly under the power outlet...is that what that is...a vent?
Does anyone know if the carpet is the same in standard leather as it is in Full leather. The reason I ask is that the above photos of a full leather show the carpet looking very plush and deep?
Thanks Russ
Oh man, Russ... I'm so jealous. I'm getting one and I'm still jealous!
I haven't liked interior pieces colored until now.My nextp-carwill beexactly like that.
Thanks Chris! I have always wanted that combo and never had the guts to go for it till now.
Atlas, I hope you are right about that carpet, it sure looks nice.
Aloha Russ
No name dropping,so let me just say that I like to hear things from the top, but sometimes that is not possible. I'll notconfirm or deny that I got it from the top this time. Press release from PAGmay be released on Jan 27th regarding financial and sales matters. Level of interest still quite high, but show doesn't open to general public until this weekend (?) so I can't really gauge. It certainly wasn't like the premiere in Frankfurt. The Detroit show is mostly about GM, Ford and to a lesser extent DaimlerChrylser and what products they have to stabilize/regain domestic market share. Also, members of the media and other professions who get to attend the auto shows before the public have mostly already seen, reviewed and written onthe Cayman S; excepting the local media/professions of course. Even ESPN was taping/broadcasting live episodesfrom various exhibits, so check their program schedules. That was new to me.
So, RussK,
If you're not doing 30 foot handsprings over your color choice, I would be sorely disappointed. That Cobalt is just freaking unreal! The more black cars I see, the more I'm very happy with my choice, but you should be simply ecstatic... what color interior did you get? The sand? I was actually a little woirried about how the sport seats would look in the sand beige, but looking at these pictures, puts my mind at ease. The sand interior look really nice. I'll probably put black mats in it though for some contrast.

a real home run with that color selection, Cobalt & Sand will be at the top of everyone's list now when they're thinking about color combos. Really like the options CDM & CDJ, painted interior trim. Looks like it has option code, 805?
Schao, do you know if the painted strip behind the seats is part of option 805??
Thanks Everyone!
I did have my doubts for a while, but after seeing these pics, I AM IN LOVE! This is just getting too exciting for words!
