Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
The vessel has a maximum speed of 18knots I believe and is due to dock on January 13th, this Friday, also known as Friday the 13th meaning it is bound to disappear into the Bermuda triangle never to be seen again...
Leading evidence: 'dock' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'dock' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace since the end of last year' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
26 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

My car was loaded on a boat on January 5, 2006 but my dealer can't tell me the name or when it will arrive in Baltimore. I know from other threads that some of you Caymanites have access to this information. Any light you can shed on the whereabouts of my car, VIN 1865, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I am in or uh on the same boat as you, I've asked a couple of people to run this down but as of yet no one has come back with a boat name or the whereabouts of the boat. I suspect theboat may have left port in Finland a day or two before that and the 5th is simply when it shows up in the Porsche computer as having been changed to status OnVesl.
Can anyone help here?
So far all I can suggest is to look at the port's web site for incoming cargo vessels. They usually show cargo information that could be helpful in narrowing it down to two or three candidates. But my dealer has no specific ship info either. San Diego for example is

I'm assuming Baltimore will be the port of drop off, time to go hunt up that information again, I used to have it about 3 years ago same for the Savannah port but now I don't know what I did with it....
Yes, and as we all know, my dealer's personnel have some 'challenges' with them thar new fangled computer whatchamajigitsthingies...

Woodhouse,
Are the computers down? Are they having a problem updating the dealers? I say that because it seems like we have a lot of folks here that have contributed an enormous amount of GP to the dealer body and Porsche factory that can't get a simple update. It seems to be a fairly simple process for the factory to track the units and communicate this to the dealers. Not trying to bust your balls but your the only Porsche guy on this site.
Thanks,
Patch
My sales manager's computer is working just fine. He never gets information about the boat even though some people on this site say their sales managers get the boat name. While I would like to know why my dealer doesn't get information others do, my primary concern is that I get the information any way I can /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/wink_smile.gif
It seems there are 'Dealers' and then there are 'dealers' doesn't it. I assume from the comments that Porsche dealers have more exact information including vessel names and port arrival times available if they want to share them with the customer. The only reasons I can think of not to do this is that some cars are going to be in port awhile before delivery and it isn't worth the bother to get the customer worked up over something the dealer cannot control or the dealer can't work the computer system or just doesn't care about customer excitement since it doesn't add immediate profits. I'm guessing of course but there must be a rational answer out there somewhere.
This is my 10th car from this dealer and if he had the information he would share it with me. If he can get it, he doesn't know how. When I was looking at the 40th Anniversary 911 neither my dealer nor PCNA could give me information about the suspension. I found it on the internet. I am not impressed with PCNA or the information they can give the dealers or the customers.
Then come to this site baby! Here is the info you need to find your ship and all of the shipping details:
http://pob2.mpa.state.md.us/dw/index.asp
Although I suspect you'll need a username and password for the system, standby as I am working on that. I used to have one with a prior car, just need to get it reactivated.
The shipping information I got through a different source thought our cars would be aboard the California Highway due in port this Saturday. However, the paperwork indicated the next vessel would arrive on the 29th but a car loaded on the 5th shouldn't take that long to get here. Unless someone can get better informationwe will have to wait till theship arrives to find out if our cars are on it.
BTW: It was confirmed yesterday by PCNA that the computers are having some issues since the end of last year. A minor reprogramming in Germany has caused some status issues, and codes we have never seen before are appearing on our computers.
Don't worry, your cars are probably further along the pipeline than your dealer's computer shows. I've experienced this myself this week. I had 2 Caymans arrive yesterday that the computer showed would arrive in over a week.
I have also confirmed from separate sources that our cars are aboard the following vessel:
Californian Highway
VIN 8301307
Callsign 3FHQ4
Voyage #159
Owned and operated by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha LTD - Kline see:

Cars are scheduled to be unloaded on Friday as the ship sets sail again Saturday afternoon for Brunswick.
Assuming nothing else happens over the weekend cars will get PDI'd Monday or Tuesday and loaded onto carriers later next week, likely placing them at dealerships at the end of next week (20th-21st) or possibly into the next week.
Hope that helps.
Woodhouse & K-man, great info!
Yesterday two dealers in Virgina told me the crossing takes 7 - 10 days in summer. My dealer (in Rockville, Maryland) told me my car (which left on the 5th) would be at the dealer four weeks from the 5th after unloading, customs, etc. Looks to me like he was being conservative.

Seems PCNA can get all the information they want and act on it very quickly. They were mad that I called the port to get information about my car and called my dealer. I feel like a grade-schooler being reprimanded for misbehaving on the playground.
I found all the information and phone numbers I needed from leads on this site. The same resourcefulness that enabled me to make enough money to buy a Porsche also enabled me to get the information I wanted about my car. BMW freely shares production and shipping information with its customers. What the hell is PCNA's problem?
I don't get it.

Alas, it takes longer to get to San Diego apparently. I still haven't figured out the date of arrival (or the ship)but it looks like a month plus and then a two or three week trip to NM. Anyone else having cars going to San Diego?
BiggerTwin,
Apparently you talked to different people than I did and in a different way so your results were different, but yet we both retrieved the same information. I doubt PCNA is that miffed at you or else they'd just withhold your car until you said you were sorry or cried uncle. For future reference put the question out there and wait a bit for an answer and the results may be less painful.
I obviously spoke to different people but they were very friendly and helpful. I have a long history of diplomatic relations with adversaries (I can submit a transcript from Federal District Court attesting to my virtues if necessary /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/regular_smile.gif) and can assure you that I was cordial and friendly with the two people I spoke with. Somehow, the guy at the port (I had no idea he was at the port and got his number from the first man I spoke with) called PCNA. I was in constant contact with Audi's port operations regarding my S4 (a similar first release situation to our Caymans) and had no problem with the port or Audi. While I am a little turned off by PCNA, I really don't want a V8 Vantage and will respectfully sit at the back of the class and stay off the phone!
