Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If they will, I agree $35,000 or below....but set aside some money for wear and tear items like clutch, brakes, shocks, exhaust etc...
Leading evidence: 'Set aside some money' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Set aside some money' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What would be a fair price for a artic silver 1999 911 with 82,000 miles? It has the factory aero package, 18 inch turbo look wheels, power seats, three spoke leather steering wheel, power sunroof, interior bits in exterior paint (seat backs, console, electronics surrounds). It is listed at $40,000 at the dealer, what potential problems should I look for with a car with this high of mileage? How many miles are 996 engines usually good for before they need major repairs? Is it possible to get a warranty for a car like this, and how much would one cost?
I can give you a couple of thoughts. With that high mileage it's almost imperative to have maintenance records. If properly cared for it should go for a long time. Not aware of pricing, but I do know that for some reason cars built after 4/99 had some improvements. I'll have to look that up. Also make sure you get a thorough PPI because parts may be nearly worn (brakes, fluids, belts, clutch, etc.
Someone with a recent copy of Excellence can give you a price range.
Hello Master,
As Don Says, is very important to do a PPI and look after all thwe service records.
There's any guarantee with this car?
Do you know if his miles are most made in the motorway ? or just in the city
?
If all this details are ok, i 'll go for it.This is a solid 911 !

There was an earlier post regarding a dealer buy offer of a 99 C2 somewhere in the high $30's.
You can assume the dealer bought this car for far less than 40K, and ought to be happy flipping it for a small profit (I'd say no more than $2000 over what the dealer has into it)This will be a tough sell when you look at everything that can be purchased for $40,000 new. I'd venture a guess that $35,000 ought to take it with all necessary service complete. Anything higher should cause you to look at alternatives. Let us know how you do. I'd love to hear that you stole it. AS
If it is at a Porsche dealer ask for the Pre-Owned Certification and Warranty.....if they will not do, I would not buy it at any price.
If they will, I agree $35,000 or below....but set aside some money for wear and tear items like clutch, brakes, shocks, exhaust etc...
Are you looking for a "deal" or a genuine Porsche....there a lot of cars around $50,000 that could dilute your downside risk....
Case in point,I had a Lexus dealer offer me a 2002 996 C2 with 521 miles for $62,000 this week...it was a Tip. with an original MSRP of $85,000....I told him to take to the High Line auction....the fact that he has not before now ( had it three months ) tells you a little about auction pricing....
Buy what ever makes you happy
PS Buy my 2002 Boxster S with 69 miles for $51,950, it is a better deal, drive for a year....you will be dollars ahead <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />
MasterTLT,
Have you driven the car yet? I test drove the car almost 2 months ago, and decided it wasn't for me. Although the car looks incredible from the outside, the interior is pretty beat up, the pedals stick, the driver's seat practically needs replaced, it needs 4 new tires already (they are actually turning brown in color!), 2 or 3 of the wheels have been "curbed" and it vibrates like crazy (but that could be due to the tires). On the plus side though, it has traction control (rare), and although the car itself has 82,000 miles on it, the motor only has about 20,000 on it and is still under factory warranty for another year. The current owner (Paul I think...) actually works there at Fred Baker Porsche/Audi. I was actually considering the car and was going back and forth on a decision, but the combination of the cars current owner/employee being a total a**hole to me and finding out that MY-99/00 under-50,000 mile C4's are going through the auctions in the low 40's made me decide to pass. Please don't take this as a negative comment on Fred Baker Porsche/Audi in general by the way!!! They are about the best dealership in Northeastern Ohio in my opinion, I will just never deal with that particular person again... Good luck on your search as I'm going through it myself!
