Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. POST 1Original post

Already a thread on this... somewhere I think. First I’ve seen of it. Seems a bit... I dunno. Average?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What do you think? 25th anniversary edition. Based on the 4.0 GTS. Personally not a fan of silver/gold combo (available in black or white also). Unique wheels and colour coding, but rest looks options special. I’m sure it will be collectible down the line. The other release pics featured original 986 and I think it really has aged very well. |https://thumbsnap.com/wNg66m48 Edited by LM240 on Tuesday 12th January 23:25 Edited by LM240 on Tuesday 12th January 23:29

POST 3Original post

Only 1250 worldwide will mean it will sell fast for sure and appear on the used market at silly prices lol

POST 4Original post

I quite like the wheels, very 90s style design, if only they had put Spyder / GT4 front bumper on it.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Prefer the gold (copper) with the black. Though later down the line, sticking with launch combo is usually better. If you were about to go for a GTS anyway, this would seem to make sense.

I'm thinking who would choose this over their own spec? Other than limited edition, what are the advantages? Is it any cheaper?

POST 28Original post

GTS 4.0 and 25 Edition are the SAME PRICE (if choosing the same config) So the question for me is: a) Which styling looks better b) Which one's going to depreciate considerably less, if either

tedblog said: Armitage.Shanks said: I must be the only person that thinks it looks terrible. It'd only missing more chrome. leopard skin seat covers and window tints. Spinners optional Love the wheels , not so keen on the gold vents. I get the colour coding, but it is the side vent that jars the most for me. Launch colour safest to go with long term rather than going with black or white or swapping interior to black. I’d be tempted to order replacement side vents in silver and keep original ones boxed for later refitting if necessary. The rest is okay. It seems a nice way to have something a bit more unique if getting a GTS anyway.

I think it’s hideous and looks like one of those boosters that pops up on eBay that someone has “personalised”. Wheels look like Japanese 90’s multi fit specials with an odd offset. Colour coding looks like a true afterthought. Zero interest other than who let their kid draw on design documents?

Never ceases to amaze those who buy into these so called specials ! Now if you were looking to buy say a new 718 and you actually like the styling and its not toooverpriced to regular model ie 718/6gts then it's a no brainer, but to buy secondhand something like a 991.1/50 because it's limited and paying a premium of more than circa 10% over a regular 991.1 is madness, plus the 991.1 is not noted as being the best drivers 911! There are now so many Porsche "specials" I think if anything it cheapens many of them and long term the prices will fall as at present so called specials are in a price bubble

Will be very difficult to get one I imagine. "Massively oversubscribed" I was told this morning so yes you're probably right, getting one will be very hard. Maybe even harder than a Spyder As its essentially a GTS with different cloths and some key "extras" as standard I think it'll be heavily in demand just because its different, comparatively rare and not a GT/GTS but still has a 4.0 NA 6 pot. I find all that quite appealing

POST 53Original post

Does it have any chassis or engine bits which are either options or not available on the rest of the range? At least with the 986 550 you got a unique paint option and a power bump through a bigger airbox. Much of the rest was tequipment catalogue.

Oh the missed opportunities!!! If only they would have done this with... - Orange stripes across the bottom of the light lenses and orange side repeaters - Red and orange tail lights - The original 17" silver wheels and larger tyres - No air con or PCM, just a radio and heater dials - A manual hook on the roof - And limited it to "launch" arctic sliver/basalt black cars with the original terracotta interior I'd have been down to the OPC like a shot with a deposit! Never mind, will just have to buy an old 986 for about £60k less then...

The Boxster 25 will be a classic almost instantly. Certainly 10 years from now. It just needs its finish and leather quality to look as good as in the photos. We know the engine and thats as good as its going to get. And then there is the moment Porsche stop making combustion engines. Let's say it 15 years from now. As long as global governments don't prohibit engines altogether from ,say , 2040 - then the Boxster25 will take its place beside 2.7 RS, 959, 964 turbo, GT2, etc, etc.

My contacts at Porsche. Objectively, (well for me anyway), it's one of the most desirable Porsche models on sale at present. I think I'd therefore still hang in there if it got delayed. I believe they will have to prioritise production given it's an anniversary model. According to the original marketing info, from memory, it should have been hitting the showrooms from about now!

Would of liked it a month or so earlier tbh. But should be worth the wait

Got a call from my OPC to say I've definitely got one and they've been expecting build slots to be confirmed in the last couple of weeks so it shouldn't be too long till I get the lockdown call. On that basis I'm going to keep the faith and my fingers crossed a bit longer. It won't stop me looking in the classifieds and dreaming of owning other stuff though

Ordered mine with black. Just couldn’t sit in the full abattoir spec, it was the red steering wheel that tipped me over the edge. Still showing May delivery

Yep black for me too. I can't do the red, its just too much and reminds me of some seedy clubs I frequented in my misspent youth I am however going to add red seatbelts for some contrast colour in the cabin along with the red hood.

My opc keeps saying he doesn’t think any opc in the country have been given build slots yet

POST 75Original post

Good video, looks great. I've gone all in with the red. One of the small details I think is great is the windscreen surround in black.

POST 76Original post

L.Len said: Nice one. Good video. I’m edging towards the black interior I think. What about others on here ? I started off thinking that I’d ditch the red completely. So black roof, interior, brake calipers black anyway. This is the config that I set with the initial allocation. I definitely couldn’t live with the red interior. End of. But I’m now thinking red roof, belts and instruments. The video persuades me in that direction too.

Last time I checked it was still showing for build this month. Not sure what week number because we are in lockdown at the moment but as soon as I can pop in to the OPC I will get him to crack up the system and have a look at progress. I will report back if anything changes.

As promised popped into the OPC this morning and had a look on the system for my car. Annoyingly it’s gone back 3 weeks. Start of production is now target 10 May with delivery to dealer target of 14th June. Previously it was due to start build next week. In my experience once it actually starts build then the process flows smoothly, up to start of production it’s a lottery. Patience is a virtue in these times

Anyone going for PPF? Grateful for any recommendations in London/South East. I’m aware of, NVN, Topaz, Azuri etc. I’m looking for a reasonable cost but a quality job. I came across a company called Aspect detailing that offer a non film alternative. Any one had experience of this? Not sure how much ppf is but for the whole car I’ve read a cost of £4K in some instances (gulp)!

Any one heard anything last week or so about build and / or delivery ?

Did a really nice job (including touching in a chip I'd already got before getting to them!). I had front end, sills/air intakes and leading area of rear bumper. They use Xpel.

I sold my base 718 Boxster to a dealer today as the offer they made was too good to refuse so I'll be sans convertible until mine arrives. Looking forwards to seeing pictures of everyones spec.

But I know you’ve been suffering for a while now, so you deserve it. Nothing has come through for me yet, checked Tuesday. However what prompted my call to my SA was that the GTS I ordered last year from the other dealer has come through with a July build. So I am now in a quandary. Do I hang in there for a 25 or save money and go with a GTS? A bird in the hand and all that..... My instinct says hang fire and get the 25. I’m planning it to be a keeper so I’d be a long time staring at a GTS wishing I’d not been impatient for the sake of a few months. What do you think?
