I've been looking around for a while to replace the H/U in my 996 4s and desperately trying to avoid something which looks too modern.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just want a modern radio as a direct replacement for the standard unit. Don't need anything with SATNAV as I have a Tomom that works perfectly well.
Any suggestions please and better still any recommendations of where I can get a set up fitted in the NW Surrey area?
I have a Continental CDD7418UB-OR, when I was looking it seemed to be the best compromise between modern functionality without looking like something from a sci fi film.
Thanks. I was looking at Continental but they don't seem to be sold in this country anymore unless I'm mistaken. Like you I want something similar in appearance to the present unit but with modern functionality. Also I want to get rid of the 6 tape holders but can't find a shelf storage unit to replace them.
I've got a Continental plus wiring loom adapter, all brand new in their boxes- it's the top of the range Conti unit, so USB, DAB etc.
I bought it to replace my Becker, then didn't.
It's just taking up space now so check it out on Bergvill Fx, if you are interested pop over and get it- I'm in SE23

a bit more 80's than 90's but i think it looks ace!

I bought a £2 aux wire of ebay and a £15 bluetooth adapter that does bluetooth audio. £3 dual USB power block to power the adapter and my phone, all hidden behind the shelves.
Now I just have my phone on a magnetic mount. Plays all my tunes and does google sat nav.
I usually listen to iplayer radio or spotify.
The Becker is really good sounding unit, its just the radio is not the best quality source. I can't abide aftermarket radios with their flimsy and confusing controls.
I put some pioneer dash speakers in front and rear (mine is the basic setup, the original paper nokia speakers were well gone) and the sound quality from my phone is fantastic.
Its the best of all worlds, looks correct, sounds great and easy to control through the phone (which auto goes into "car mode" when connected to the car bluetooth) and I can receive calls.
Here's the bumpf on the box:
It's this one:

With the wiring harness to make it plug and play and Porsche sticker to re-brand it from Continental:
Anyone else after one of these or the other models less dab etc you can get them from the manufacturers website direct, vdoshop.co.uk just make sure you order the 12v versions as they also so 24v ones for trucks

My efforts at upgrading but staying retro looking. I really do like the look and feel and amber lighting. It's a mechless unit, but unfortunately lacks bluetooth so I have a double din waiting to go in to replace it.
If you take it apart you can flip the LCD filter and invert the display pretty easily.
Your OPC will help you with that, or find a base spec boxster in the scrappy.
Design 911 sell them.

Don't remember them being that pricey when I bought mine.
