Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

2007 Porsche Cayman base, with Tiptronic (photo 1). Found this widget on the garage floor under the car; seems to be a check valve / stopper for the end of a 1/2” diameter hose (photo 2). Under the rear driver’s side of the car, I found a hanging open hose that seems like the correct home for the mystery part (photo 3). Problem is, I can’t find any reference to the check valve / stopper or the loose hose. Searched online and fully through the parts catalog. Anyone know what this is? And should that hose be hanging like this, or did a support come loose? Thanks for any info.

POST 2Original post

Try checking vent hose, transmission or differential vent. That’s my guess anyway.

POST 4Original post

Thanks for the tips, TexasT. Turns out, this is in fact a vent for the transmission, as shown in the photo below. So I routed the hose back up top where I believe it belongs, with the check valve oriented vertically, as shown in the photo below. Mystery solved; thanks again for your help!
