I have a 2009
Cayman
(base) and the clutch pedal is noticeably stiffer than the action of the clutch on the 2010
Boxster
the dealer provided me as a loan while my car was in service. Is there any adjustment that can be done to rectify this?
No adjustment, as it is a fluid connection.
My clutch pedal is also very stiff on mine and has been since I got the car 12k miles ago, and hasn't changed at all. If yours is a 2009 model then take it into the dealer and get them to look at it.
Porsche
Middle Eats took a look at mine and thought it may be clutch material that had become stuck in the clutch release plate causing it to be stiff and so would not entertain warranty! Not sure I 100% buy it, but I'm not going to pay out of my own pocket for something that does the job perfectly, even if it does take a little extra effort
It's strange, but there is some variation with the clutch effort between cars. I've been fortunate enough to try many different
Caymans
during our gatherings the last few years. Some have stiffer pedals than mine, others don't. Of course the mileage on these cars are all over the place as well so who knows...
I just bought a Mini Cooper S as a daily driver and when I hopped back into my
Cayman S
to move it the other day I couldn't believe that it had always been that heavy. Never noticed until I drove a different car. I remember thinking it light in comparison to my friends
GT3
RS. That would be a trip jumping between a Mini and the RS.
My experience to date is that some are heavy and some are not. I test drove other
Caymans
, and now the loaner
Boxster
, all of which had lighter clutches. I wish I could say the same about mine. In any case as it is in for other service I've asked that they take a look at it. Not sure what can be done, though.
The 997 S has a self adjusting clutch (does not get stiffer as it wears, bite point no change..). The base 997 has the basic non self adjusting one. Does the same apply to 987 gen
Caymans
.. meaning 987 S has self adjusting clutch ? Thanks
