Came back home from running a few errands. Tried to lock the car using the key but nada. Tried again and again. Tried starting the car...it starts ok. Tried again to no avail. Got the spare key from upstairs and tried locking with it and viola, it works. So, somehow, my key's remote control feature is dead. I have used this key since I have recieved the car and never had any problems with it. <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />

Nope. Didn't touch it. It was working this morning and now it doesn't. The red light still flashes on the key but the car just doesn't recognize the signal. I can still manually lock/unlock/start the car though.

Sounds like you just need to replace the battery in the remote. It could have enough juice to light the led but not enough to send a signal out. Or possibly you dropped it and knocked the chip loose?

Just talked to the dealer. He thinks the "head" on the remote is messed up. But, he needs the car there to fix it. The car doesn't even have 2000 miles on it and already the gascap door lock broke and now the key. Since the spare works, I'll just hold off on taking the car there till I need servcing on something else...sigh

Easy to check if it's the battery. Just take the battery out of your spare and try it in your non-working key. If it still doesn't work - time for a new key.
