Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I usually don't leave my car in the rain, but in the past few days its been raining like mad. My 996 has been out in the rain while I'm at work and every time I get back into it I see drips of water on the passenger floor mat. The first time it did it, I thought nothing of it. After the 2nd and 3rd time I decided to figure out where it was coming from. Apparently it looks like water/rain is coming through the cabin filter and down through the cabin fan ducting and onto the floor mat. Anyone else experience this?
I've seen it happen before but before you start to trouble-shoot the leakage get everything dry ASAP!... The immobilizer and a number of other electronics are under the driver's and passenger seat and don't like moisture at all... It can be a real headache if any of that stuff gets water damage.
ill check them out. But the water is coming from where the cabin air filter is located. also it looks like a cover of some sort is missing that is supposed to cover the filter element.
Hi r1de23:
I've got the same problem. Haven't left the car in the rain but it happens when I hand wash it. When After I'm done hosing down the windshield, I notice that the carpet is wet. Mine though is really dripping near the center hump and for me anyway, trickles down to the drivers side, by the gas pedal. I haven't had the time to chase it systematically, but will do so soon.
Let me know if you discover something.
Thanks!
i know that there is clearly no drainline for the cabin filter. does anyone else have a cover or lining over the filter or is the filter just exposed to the elements as soon as you open the frunk?
As stated earlier, clean your drains. If you have an early 996, make sure the drain grommets have been updated per the TSB. The slots keep debris from laying flat and plugging the orifice completely. Check your VIN window to make sure you have the clear plastic cover in place. it only take one small leaf to plug the drain on the passenger side if these updates have not been applied.
Got some pictures for you all..
I cleaned the drain out for the A/C condenser. It seemed clear but i think the water is building up in that general area. I really poured out today on the both the drivers and passenger sides after i ran the A/C for a while. any ideas anyone?
Use air to blow out the AC condenser drain. I had water in passenger footwell and that was the problem. Drain is above pass footwell and connects to AC unit.
