Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I fitted a BMC cup cone filter to my GT3 and the noise it made was incredible both inside and outside.
Leading evidence: 'Install bmc cup cone filter' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). this should address any over oiling that DIY cleaning could do.

If you are going to clean and re use a sports filter , wash it and re oil it, then wrap it in paper towl and leave it overnight to steep in the airing cupboard (dont tell the wife).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking at fitting the induction pipe/resonator delete kit to my C4S and wondering what filter options people have used or would recommend?
I've seen K&N and BMC panel filters at around £85, or Pipercross at more like £55, and all look pretty similar to my eyes??
Any other options worth looking at or any experience of the above?
Thanks in advance
Nick
Nick, this is my findings on air filters mate.
pipercross,
due to the make up they give the gains in free flow breathing of the engine and the few BHP but they do not give any induction sound gains . ideal if you dont want any added noise . they also do as a special order a dry filter (no oil) this is ideal if you are worried about any oil fouling your maff.
BMC
This is my filter of choice very lightly oiled ,I dont wash reoil and reuse ,I just buy a new one but thats my choice.
K&N
very similar to BMC but when I used one when I pushed the car hard the induction seemed to pull some oil off the filter and it fouled the maff . this is why I dont used them but many do happily with no issues.

hope that helps a bit :thumb: :thumb:
I fitted a BMC cup cone filter to my GT3 and the noise it made was incredible both inside and outside. I would have normally put a proper exhaust on but I left it stock so pleased was I. IIRC they do fit all 996s. The only downside was that in hot conditions at Spa I think I was down om power at end of Kemmel as I didnt fit any cool air cowling around it. Dont suppose it will make a difference in real life!
I recently fitted a resonator delete kit (in black) to my C4S and don't like the sound, so happy to see it if you're interested and want to give it a try. To my ears, it has a harsh resonance at about 5K. Certainly louder than stock but a bit much with my exhaust.
Hi galahad,
Yes I'd be interested to try it, my car is a Tip, not sure if there's any difference in the pipework, think I read somewhere that there was??
Pm how much you'd like for it and where you are located and we'll see what we can sort.
Cheers
Nick
Nick , theres no difference on the 997 between a tip and man induction , what you will have read is about early 996 where there was a tip breather pipe feeding into the induction set up ,and if guys were doing the induction mods they were having to fit a small cone filter on the end of that breather pipe and then tuck it out of sight. :thumb: :thumb:
