I followed these instructions, and did a Giro Disk install in about 3 hours or so (I did spend some time cleaning things up), but had no "Oh S____" moments.

Regarding your link: you don't need to replace the sensors and anti-squeal shims unless they are worn down/damaged, but I can tell you that the one thing you do need is replacement caliper bolts (recommended by Porsche anytime you change rotors).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Im just about to attempt to do a rotor and pad change, is there anything i need to look out for or change whilst i attempt this? I searched the threads and theres lots of different opinions and some are dated so i thought i'd ask again now. Also, anyone bought or know anything about this:- Buy Porsche Cayman 987C 2005 Cayman S 3.4L 987C 2005 Brake Pads & Disc Package | Design 911 Do i really need everything in this brake kit? cheers

First, you might want to review the Articles on rotor change (they are for Girodisc rotors, but it still applies to OEM as well): Slotted Rotors - Articles Slotted Brake Rotors - Articles Regarding your link: you don't need to replace the sensors and anti-squeal shims unless they are worn down/damaged, but I can tell you that the one thing you do need is replacement caliper bolts (recommended by Porsche anytime you change rotors).

POST 3Original post

In reponse to my question the end of March (page 6 on this forum, Brake Job Details) KS-CS referred me to a great article on the "other" Cayman web site, that I found to be very helpful. http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-boxster-tech/44165-brake-job-details.html I think the one thing I picked up from this is that you need to release the clamp that holds the solid line to the flex line from the Caliper so you can move it out of the way. I followed these instructions, and did a Giro Disk install in about 3 hours or so (I did spend some time cleaning things up), but had no "Oh S____" moments. Just take your time, and make sure you torque the bolts properly. Regards

POST 4Original post

Good points - I meant to mention the part about loosening the little brackets that hold the brake lines, to facilitate moving the caliper around, so I'm glad you caught that. Unfortunately for the OP, you have to be a member of PCA to be able to access the articles on that "other" site.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
