Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This may be old news for some of you. Just found out that there are now two types of sports suspensions available, both retrofitable to certain models. There's the original 030 sports suspension that lowers 20 mm front and 10 mm rear (std on C4S and TT). Then there's the new one, also Porsche, lowers 30 mm all around: Carnewal . I don't know the specifics yet, but I presume it would ride simillar to the 030 but lower ride height, and not as harsh as the GT3 coilover set. Hmmmm. Track tires, lowered sports suspension, race pads, SS lines, short shifter, racing seats, Porsche roll cage, 6 point harness, retrofit X51....... I need to go rob a bank. Anyone wanna join?

POST 2Original post

Palting, have you done any suspension mods to your C4S yet? How much do you think it would improve your performance at the track?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm slowly making a list of upgrades/mods I want. No, I have not yet made any mods to the car other than the light weight hollow wheels. To be honest, I'm kinda enjoying finding the limits to the stock C4S tire/suspension setup. Worked on controlled drifts, slides, and rotations last outing. Doesn't cut down the time as much as the no-slide track tire/suspension mod would, but it's a heck of a lot of fun!!!! Plus, I was able to pick up speeds to the point where I have now consistently gained another gear upshift at the straights, both front AND back. Probably in spring I'll get track tires before I kill myself on the street tires.

POST 4Original post

I am doing PDE in Atlanta Nov 23-24, anybody else going? Hope to start doing Connecticut Valley DE next year, can't wait, car is almost run in.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You are going to have a blast!!! I gotta tell you those TT brakes on the C4S are just awesome. One of the hardest parts on the learning curve is actually believing that the brakes can haul it in in that short a distance. I have a feeling I'm nowhere near the brakes limit yet. Of course, with the TT power and weight, plus the X50 power, there might be some serious challenge to those brakes. PCCB and the new lowered sports suspension, sawmilldriver?

POST 6Original post

hey sawmilldriver...I'm doing PDE 11/23-24 too! I'm also in CT...sending you a private message.

POST 7Original post

The X74 is a -30mm (from ROW) sport supensioned designed for clubsport applciations. It is lower and stiffer and available as a factory exclusive install (with chassis stiffening) or as parts (not a Tequipment kit). It is abotu double the price of ROW Sport parts uses std sport sway bars. I've got all of the parts but the rear springs, expected next week. Will advise once its installed. ONLY fits 02/03 C2 and C4 (row) NOT the C4S

[quote]Originally posted by Ed Newman: ONLY fits 02/03 C2 and C4 (row) NOT the C4S

Bummer . I wondered about that. But, I remain hopefull. The way things are going, with the demand for the C4S being what it is, it won't be long before they come out with something specific for the C4S. By then, I'll be ready for it!!

[quote]Originally posted by Palting: The way things are going, with the demand for the C4S being what it is, it won't be long before they come out with something specific for the C4S.

The lowered suspension will be available for the 996TT and the 996C4S in Jan'03. Just like the lowered suspension that is now available for the '02-'03 C2 and C4, it will be offered as a retrofit kit with one specific part# for each kit.

POST 10Original post

The 996s are very good in stock form. You really don't need modifications to make it faster. I have a stock 2000 C2 with US 030. Kumho track tires and Hawk blue racing pads were used for drivers ed. I'm more than happy with the stock setup. Any mods that make the car faster would be too fast for me right now. I've been doing Drivers Ed and a little club racing for the last 13 year.

POST 11Original post

Do any of you guys know if this new package fits the targa or not?

POST 12Original post

I would belive the targa would not be appicable due to the same lack of stiffness the cab suffers from. The new -20mm suspesnion is for the TT and C4S and is the X73. The X73 appears not to be the -30mm for the cab as was previously thought. The X73 is on the 2003 order guide for ROW, but not for the US.
