Nowadays, I have the vBOX data logger running headless and then can look at the data when I'm back in the paddock or when i get home.

But everyone was pretty fair and it was nice to be on a car track day and not a test day!

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
33 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Yep, see you there T
Weather looks like it'll be dry but not super warm, so it should be good.
Don't worry, I'll be using my mirrors and keeping out of your way

Don’t know what’s going on. Tried to reply 4 times because I’m over excited!
Anyway, I’ll be there. Engine in the wrong place.
I suppose someone has to drive a 911
Dropped by to say ‘Hello’, it was great to see so many superb cars on track. My favourite was Kev’s Python 718GT4. Some 991GT3RSs and a few 992GT3s and too many GT4s to mention.
Driving standards appeared excellent as usual with a few more unusual cars on track - a noteable mention to ChrisW in the 944 Turbo, must have a pax in that some time...
Weather was dry all day apparently and very few red flags.
I was on the A49 about 9am so missed the bulk of attendees, plenty of fabulous cars spotted on the way there and on my way home. Sure there was an electric one (technical response) any do the track day?

Yep, weather was awesome all day.
Three red flags which wasn't bad really, only one in the afternoon when it was quite a bit quieter on track.
Was a fun day, barely any stoppages, glorious sunshine, and some mainly decent driving…. few stubborn ones…. But everyone was pretty fair and it was nice to be on a car track day and not a test day!
Few quick guys around, to try to follow and to to pick up tips from…
Dontdobends…. very nice driving from you mate, I was not on that pace at that point. I also tried your suggestion of holding 3rd, from your look at my RS day video, much better.
Mad Scientist…. 992 GT3 is rapid!
TwinFan, looks like you’re gaining confidence and was having great fun, also ChrisW in the 944 Turbo Cup.
Personally, it was another school day, learning to try to really lean on the car and the tyres. Properly turning the steering wheel and getting a bit of rotation and energy into to the car using the throttle. Net result from a quick review of data when I got home - dramatically improved PB supported by a decent number of consistent laps…the journey continues.
Nice one T, and thanks for the kind words. I think I did OK for my third track day and as promised I hope I kept out of your way enough!
It was great to see you, catch you again sometime no doubt.
Superb day. Was my first PCGB event but I will be doing more!
Lots of lovely cars and some great driving. Nice groups to have a bit of a play with, but also some really clear sessions.
Nice to meet you T, albeit briefly. I always seem to run out of time for more socialising!
John: your GT4 is the best colour.
Some video here, to help with the post track day blues!

Thanks. That’s pretty cool! Certainly makes it feel much more “dynamic”.
Looked like a great day. Will have to get booked for next year.
How quickly do they book up after the dates are announced? And roughly when do PCGB release dates for the year? Only just joined PCGB so not aware of their schedules or how quickly these things get booked.

Ta big fella!
Pulling big G's Pete!!! and flippin flying.
Here's a video of mine that features a lot of the GT4s there on the day: Twinfan (yellow), Grant (yellow), TDT (grey), dontdobends (blue) and the black one and one of the white ones:

Obligatory video… did loads of lap on the day, due to great conditions. Ran right until the chequered flag!
Flying there. Great lap. Very quick shifting too, fast left leg!
I need to carry more speed through island, I’m a good few mph down on you there. Brave pills needed.
One thing I wanted to ask you about was how easy the Vbox is to use? Track precision app is so temperamental I’ve run out of patience, but even when it works the live timing display is a little naughty and very easily pushes you into silly mistakes chasing “green”.
jackwood said:
Great lap! What kind of time is that?
Cheers Jack... that was a 1m56.09.
Data logger suggests I can cut a full 2secs off based on best sectors done on the day, so it’s about more confidence, consistency and putting the full lap together.

You also need Grant's lead wellies.
Thanks all for a great day ... everybody seemed to have a good time and the weather was perfect.
'My first time out in the 944 Turbo Cup ... 245 Toyo 888's all round with no power steering made for a fairly energetic day
Working out the best gear / changes / corner speed was a journey ... missed a couple of gears but the flywheel effect is so noticeable that there was time to lift and correct without too much drama ... it appears that sliding into the corners in a higher gear whilst keeping the throttle as pinned as possible is the way to go ....
The journey is started
!!
Kev, what did you think from the passenger seat ?

As for data logger...
I have the vBOX Sport(20hz) which is a data logger that records data to SD card but also can function as an external bluetooth GPS sensor for use with iPhone Apps such as Porsche Track Precision App(PTPA) , Harry's Laptimer (HL), RaceChrono Pro (RC) and vBOX Laptimer.
I started out with early versions of PTPA - but also found it flakey and it still is to this day with the latest ground up rewrite..... which is a shame as it has seamless access to all of the cars CANBUS data channels.. and stuff that no other app can access... but like you, lost too much track time faffing around with it instead of driving, and getting seat time.. which is more valuable than the data anyway.
So I eventually moved to RC paired with the vBOX Sport as external GPS sensor and when connected, I can use my iPhone as a laptimer display in the cockpit, with live lap time and deltas... but as I've gotten faster/better, I generally try not to do this too much, precisely to avoid chasing the green, and making a mistake.
Nowadays, I have the vBOX data logger running headless and then can look at the data when I'm back in the paddock or when i get home. I then use RC to match the data log with the Go Pro video which is also GPS stamped and it gets synced up via the app. I also use the Racelogic Circuit Tools app (iOS/MacOS/PC) to analyse the vBOX captured data on the SD card.... so multiple angles/approaches to establishing how well or not I've done on a day.
Although my current setup now offers alot of flexiblity for the price of the bits... Knowing what I know now and because I'm addicted to track days... starting again, I'd have just bought a vBOX HD2 setup or Garmin Catalyst or RaceNavigator from the beginning.... as these are fully integrated solutions - that work pretty much automatically, every time... and not so much messing around after the fact also... although that is part of extending the trackday fun also..

Thanks for that very detailed response. Think I might try the vbox sport. Such a shame track precision is so inconsistent.

Hi Chris, sorry for the late reply!
It was a proper old school blast from the passenger seat, combo of sideways fun and old school turbo thrust!!!!

I was a first timer on this day, had a great day and when looking at this video spotted myself chugging round in my GTS Cayman, Grant passed me at 14.13. Apologies to anyone I held up, spent most of the day getting out of the way of the grown ups.
