Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am sure that you can find out all that was changed....Folks here can probably help you, but I know that the late production 1999 cars were more akin to the 2000 996...the general advice I gathered was if buying used, try to avoid the early build cars out of warranty.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i have to cabs to pick from (3 really, but 1 is too far away i think)
both 99 tiptronics
1. silver/black, 20k miles
no cd changer, 17 wheels, full/supple leather. otherwise not other real options
1/99 build
porsche certified
2. red/tan 11k miles
cd changer, 18 wheels, full/supple leather, wood/alumin shifter/break, parking assist
forgot to check build, it is not certified
i can get both for $57k. i like the red one better, the 9 k miles to me is 1 year of driving. the only thing pulling me to the silver one is the warranty, but for 1 year, is it worth it? both cars assumed to go out of original warranty sometime next year, have hardtops, windstops, etc
i also have a chance a really loaded speed yellow cab tip in Florida for approx 63k, its a 2000 model 20k miles. but i cant see it in person. its got almost 2 years of warranty left. i'm nervous buying a car i have not seen (ppi or not) and taking 1 way flight just to be disappointed
any feedback would be appreciated

I would check all the cars with CarFax. It's worth the $19.95 (or whatever it is today). Check all the build dates -- my 1999 still has 8 months warranty left because it was a late 99 build. Also, MY 99 had a longer warranty.
They both still has warranty left! I would pick the red one.
You can pay a dealer to do the same check that they do to certify a used Porsche on the red one.
Man, I'd be tempted with the speed yellow. I'm there is a Rennlister willing to do a PPI plus fotos galore. I have a silver/MB Cab so I'm talking out of both sides of my mouth, but the SY Cab would be for me..
I know these are 02's but the look is there!
the yellow was always my fave color, but i am in PA and the car is in FL from a used car dealer. I have seen pics, and i have run a carfax, but i just have that lingering doubt. the car is currently on ebay. what concerns me on the carfax report is from 9/16/02 to 10/08/02 the car was driven 9,700 miles, to me, something aint right. it was leased on 9/16 and sold on auction on 10/8
i got a call back from the guy from Florida. he'll take my offer of $61.5k on it. 2000 speed yellow, loaded with nav, full leather, 18" wheels, changer, etc ... 20k miles
warranty till 7/04

i'm getting the red 99. its a 7/99 build, and everything else being even, it looks great and has nice low mileage (11k)
getting my lease together and will hopefully pick it up Saturday!
Thanks for all your feedback.

Berkley..I'm curious about your comment about build dates afyer 5/99??? I looked at a '99 w/ 16k miles, aero pkg, full leather spt seats, alum. gauges shift and e-brake, cd changer, sport suspensionn and Sport Desin wheel today for $55,900 at a Porsche dealership. Is this not a desierable car??? Black/Black and looked to be in very good condition. Forgot to mention that it went in to service 8/98 I beleive.
The 996 was produced along side the 993 in 1997 and sold as a 1998 996 model in Europe and in the spring of 1998 it was introduced in the USA as the 1999 996 and it continued until August of 1999.
As with Porsches of the past, changes are made during a production run to address problems that have shown up in a new model. I am sure that you can find out all that was changed....Folks here can probably help you, but I know that the late production 1999 cars were more akin to the 2000 996...the general advice I gathered was if buying used, try to avoid the early build cars out of warranty. Ask a master mechanic and not a sales person to compare early versus late.
