Suggestion

You can always add the AUX, hands free using any bluetooth adapter plugged into the aux, but you don't have phone controls and you'd have to listen to AUX only in order to hear the phone ring.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi, just bought a 2011 Boxster Spyder with the PCM 3.0 system. Everything works well except I cannot connect via bluetooth for phone or audio. Porsche dealer says the bluetooth module is in the system but broken. They offered to fix the system for $1300.00. I declined, at least for the moment. Anyone know people out there who have the ability to fix this problem besides the dealer? Or, is there an aftermarket item that could be added to my system?? Thanks, Dave

POST 2Original post

How does a bluetooth system get "broken"? Seems an odd response to me.

POST 3Original post

Isn't that covered under warranty? The car is less than four years old.

POST 4Original post

Yes, an odd answer but that is what they said... that the Bluetooth component was not working. Sadly the warranty just recently expired and the car did not have the PCM 3.0 as original equipment. I don't know when it was added so as I can not prove it was added within the first two years of the cars life which Porsche needs it to be to get covered. So, once again does anyone know of an electronics shop that could repair? Thanks.

POST 5Original post

For that price have the unit pulled and replaced with a Nav unit that doesn't suck. The module has to be replacable, where it is I do not know but I'd figure it's plug and play. and it's probably not plugged to play. You can always add the AUX, hands free using any bluetooth adapter plugged into the aux, but you don't have phone controls and you'd have to listen to AUX only in order to hear the phone ring. That however might be exactly what you do anyway. So $17 adapter or $1300. Amazon.com: Mpow® Portable Bluetooth 3.0 Audio Music Streaming Receiver Adapter with Hands Free Calling and 3.5 Mm Stereo Output: MP3 Players & Accessories This will get ya by though, for now. BTW does your phone actually see the car when scanning

POST 6Original post

I'm completely assuming, but since the PCM was not OEM, and since bluetooth is finicky as it is... it seems a high chance that something just isn't plugged in, set, or configured properly. Might be worth to scope that out a bit...

POST 7Original post

MY2011 cars were available in 2010 - so the car is not necessarily less than four years old. Just saw OP's post about the expired warranty - so it was a 2010 purchase.
