Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check threads' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check threads' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I live in the UK, but they fitted the same radiators to 996Ts supplied to Saudi Arabia, so they obviously have plenty of cooling capacity!

The new 997.2 GT3 is fitted with factory "coverings" (stoneguards).

I got my indy friend to fit them when he changed the aircon rads recently.

Suggestion
The only "snag" that I see with them is that the grilles replace the originals in the side openings, so you have to take the PU off and remove the existing ones.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am picking up a 996 TT 03. Simple question is can i buy mesh kit from anywhere that fits (the bit i couldnt see on search)
Ideally where you dont need to remove front PU, but if you do so be it.
My option is to protect from crud etc so removing them without taking the PU off would be good for regular inspection. but I dont know if this option is available.
Anyone got any thoughts, useful pointers etc.

Zunsport now have 996T/C4S mesh grilles. They offered a 15% discount to forum members on the PCGB forum, but I'm sure they would give anyone the discount if you ask nicely.

The only "snag" that I see with them is that the grilles replace the originals in the side openings, so you have to take the PU off and remove the existing ones. The centre grille clips on from outside.

Thay do them in black too.
What a great idea. Richard I do like yours... which ones did you use, and I'm guessing you painted them? Also fitment... does one need to remove the bumper... if so how easy is that? Oh and just one more question... it seems like a no brainer to have them so the radiators are afforded extra protection... but if it is that simple why aren't they stock from the factory? Is it a restricted air thing onto the radiators?
I got my indy friend to fit them when he changed the aircon rads recently. I bought some Ripspeed black mesh from Halfords, and he cut it to size and glued it in place with black silicone mastic. The PU had to come off anyway to do the rads, but it isn't a difficult job - takes about 15 minutes once you know how to do it!
The mesh hasn't made a scrap of difference to the operating temperature. The way I look at is this. I live in the UK, but they fitted the same radiators to 996Ts supplied to Saudi Arabia, so they obviously have plenty of cooling capacity!
They say "it shortens the life of their engines"
I am paraphrasing to the 'nth degree but you get the gist.
My owners manual says :-
"To prevent excessive temperatures, the cooling air passages must not be restricted by coverings (e.g. films, "stone guards")."
Guess that answers my question as to if I should do it or not... :hand:
I would have read my own manual... if I had it... but oh that's right it's with my car, which 7 weeks on is still 300km away at my local OPC...
So how the hell does that work if OPC's are fitting them?
:eh!:
think I will have to have a go even thought I have OPCW seeing the ammount of cack collecting no real choice.
It's not rocket science.
If when you fit the mesh/grills the coolant temp exceeds normal parameters - take them off.
If when fitted it is the same or even a few degrees more (which is the difference between summer/winter, cruising/city driving, UK and Spain etc), then Porsche can stick it! (weasel warranty excepted!)
The new 997.2 GT3 is fitted with factory "coverings" (stoneguards).
So probably cobblers.
(buffer cooling capacity may be helped if you have a spare rad, a la X51, and in deed GT3)
