This is not a probability of success.

Nothing too extreme, got to be fairly comfortable, as the car is used a fair bit on the road too.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Been looking at various seats including replicas, Sparco recliners, Sparco Evo 2s, OMP and Recaros. GT3 originals are just way too much! Nothing too extreme, got to be fairly comfortable, as the car is used a fair bit on the road too. Anyone fitted seats that look right and fit well with seat mounts that can utilise the standard runners? Pics appreciated! Evo 2s are my preference right now but having difficultly working out the seat mounts to suit the 996! Thanks

POST 2Original post

When you decide what seats you want I have some GT3 runners and side mounts I'm looking to sell. I had the DesignTek GT3 look-alikes in my 993 which were pretty good I thought, but if I were doing it again I'd go FIA compliant/TuV certified and probably either Recaro Pole Positions or Cobra Imola Pro.

POST 3Original post

Note however that you will need to try them for size. Unless they fit perfectly (possibly including extra cushions and so on) then no racing seats will be as comfortable as the GT3 ones over a long distance. A lot of them are positively uncomfortable for anything over an hour or so at a time (even if they are technically the right size) in my experience, but then I am a bit or a lard arse... Personally. if I were you I would keep a close eye on eBay for some 2nd hand genuine ones. They don't come up often, but can sometimes be had for £800-£1000 per pair.

POST 4Original post

+1 Get the genuine GT3 Nomex ones James (there are some cheap copies about - AVOID!). Loads of people say that they are the most comfortable seats of their type & having just clocked up 40K miles in 2.5 years in mine, I can confirm that If you need a good source for Schroth harnesses at a good price, PM me.

POST 5Original post

+1, the GT3 Recaro's are unbeatable. Even my girlfriend prefers the GT3 Rec's to the stock bolstered sports seats... comfortable and ultimate support - perfect !

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys, sounds like I need to save up a little longer before picking this one up! Best price I got for the seats was £3300 inc VAT and harnesses for £257 inc VAT. Was getting a custom rear cage built next week but I'll put it on hold for now
