there are posts with someone who used their original faceplate, so it can be done if you want to save money, but the wiring harness is great and the bezels look nice.

recently just purchases a pioneer AVIC-D3 gps dvd unit for my car. question i have is, do i need a Custom Double Din Bezel Kit to mount the unit on? can the shop fabricate something to cover it up? that Custom Double Din Bezel Kit is quite expensive on ebay.

I used a bezel kit. It's worth it cuz it comes with the wiring harness so you don't have to mess with the harness also. My audio dude was going to use the cdr-24 faceplate since you can only sell the old unit for $100-$160. there are posts with someone who used their original faceplate, so it can be done if you want to save money, but the wiring harness is great and the bezels look nice. Kinda one of those thing where you just suck it up, buy it, and forget about it. good luck!
