Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The alternator failed on my 996, which involved leaving the battery disconnected whilst I removed , replaced the regulator and refitted.

I'm OK with electrics, did my own install on my MOST car, and replaced the alternator myself, so not a complete newbie, just wanted to find out if it can be programming, or will I need to strip.

The handbook actually details both these reset operations.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hoping someone might be able to shed some light.
The alternator failed on my 996, which involved leaving the battery disconnected whilst I removed , replaced the regulator and refitted.
It could be coincidence, but now my drivers window will not drop enough when opening the door. Pulling the handle does show a small amount of movement, with a noise from the motor, but the window catches the window frame when closing.
The passenger side goes down around 10mm. The drivers barely moves.
USing the windows normally, they both open at about the same speed, so I'm wondering if there is a programming issue.
Any ideas :dont know:
You probably need to teach the window sensors where to stop.
Continually holding the down rocker, lower the window fully.
Release the switch and then press the down rocker again and hold for a second and release again (this sets the lower limit).
Then raise window fully by continually holding the up rocker button, hold for a fraction longer than top stop.
Release the switch and then press the up rocker again and hold for a second and release again (this sets the top limit).
They should now work correctly.
The same can be done on sunroof limits if required.
The handbook actually details both these reset operations.
Thanks for the reply
Just rushed down and tried it, but its still the same
The one touch feature works correctly, and there is a noise like the motor is wanting to drop the window, but there is no movement.
Yet, if I hit the window switch, it moves immediately.
Not sure why you would have limit sensors if the windows are programmable.
Are these within the regulator, or motor?

The issue happened literally after the battery.alternator repair, so I can only think that it must be programming, but what an I missing?
If it is forgotten, above procedure works - no need for PIWIS.
Re-reading your original post and ignoring the possibility of electronic coincidence, if could just be a simple mechanical issue.
Play, misalignment, wear or grot in mechanism etc
