Does anyone have a set of standard pads out of the car they could check against the drawing (I would pop them out myself but the car is 100 miles from me and 300 from the supplier) or the Porsche OEM part number for standard pads for the 4 Pot (red) calipers found on an 03 Reg 996 Turbo?
Leading evidence: 'be replaced' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'be replaced' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check against the drawing (i would pop them out myself' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

It appears therefore that when Porsche say they fitted a 996TT brake setup to the front of the C4S they are not being quite true or it may just be an urban myth but either way they don't tie up.

Thanks for the heads up, I've sent the details onto the supplier who is trying to check with Pagid but it still seems a tad wooly

Therefore as a last chance is anyone able to confirm or deny whether there were any differences during the production runs on the 996 TT on the size and shape of pad used ie did calipers change on Steel disk equiped cars?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

When I get the next set through from PF or Pagid (depending on who delivers first) I will let you know the actual part numbers for the 996TT brake pads in either sort.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all
Just in the throws of replacing the standard pads on my DMS tweaked TT with some Pagid or Performance Friction uprated pads. Either the RS29 Pagid's or my prefered is actually the PF 06 compound as they are a bit easier on the disks in road use and I need to confirm the pad size and shape to the supplier.
The pads that he suspects are fitted are the Pagid E2474 pad shape as per this link
http://braketechnology.com/images/brakes/2474.jpg
or the PF pads would be 0776 pad shape.
(Non Ceramic). Or has anyone fitted Pagid's or PF's and they know a part number or which pad shape is correct?
Thanks in advance
Yeah that would be great if possible.
Were there any differences/revisions to Pad shape during the 911 Turbo's / C4S production time...I am assuming not?
TIA
oops - just realised that mine are RS4's.....
However, if I give you the part numbers, it may help the dealer convert this shape into the RS29's that you need??
FRONT - E2474 420 10
REAR - E2405 420 10
This is the number on the box - I can obviously not accept any responsibility for the accuracy of this..!!!
(sorry - had to put that in)
Hi Guys

Hi Guys thanks for the replies. I have taken an educated :dont know: guess and gone for the pad shape as per the link. Will let you know if it comes up trumps
Thanks again for the advice.
Hi all just an update on my pads change.
The pads from the link I was given by the supplier are not suitable for the 996TT but may be suitable for the C4S. The Pagid part number E2474 420 10 works that the E2474 part is the pad shape and then the other numbers are a compound and ID reference etc.
It appears therefore that when Porsche say they fitted a 996TT brake setup to the front of the C4S they are not being quite true or it may just be an urban myth but either way they don't tie up. As the attached image
I have sketched the PF Equivalent pad that arrived (Same as the Pagid in fact as per the earlier link) and I would estimate that the pads are actually about 20+% smaller in surface area overall for the C4S than the Turbo
When I get the next set through from PF or Pagid (depending on who delivers first) I will let you know the actual part numbers for the 996TT brake pads in either sort.
Cheers
Chris
PS Just to be clear the top image is the New Pagid/PF pad that does not fit the 996TT. The lower image is an OEM supplied 996TT Pad that is due to be replaced.
Incidentally the Porsche supplied pads cracked up inside 1 trackday and 2000 road miles which is why they are being replaced! I know I drive reasonably heavy on the brakes when on track due to the weight of the car and the power it puts down but still I would have hoped for better from an OEM pad. I will post some snaps of the pads that come out to demonstrate my point when I get them back.
Hope this helps someone!
A good and cheap upgrade which should help is to fit the 997 turbo brake spoilers. They clip to the lower control arm and direct air towards the front calipers. The 997 ones are much deeper than the 996 ones and are less than a tenner each side from your local OPC.
