A tired taxi driver, who has worked 12 hours straight and has a pissed up guy about to puke is allowed to hold the cb radio mic to his face, or a traffic officer who is speeding through traffic, breaking the speed limit and dodging traffic lights can use the handset to his face....

I'm sure it will be illegal to use the phone while moving, does it work as handsfree aswell ?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All...
I have bought a 2002 911 carrera 4
It has what i believe is a PCM 1 unit in it.
It has a cassette player in the head/screen unit, and a seperate CD drive below for the Nav CD, along with a multi CD unit
under the hood...
The Telephone is the handset type on a cord, mounted to the left of the unit.
2 questions, Firstly is it legal to use this? I am unclear as to the legalities of dialing and holding??
I know you can hold such things as dictaphones etc.... and I know you can dial on a phone if it is mounted on the dash..
Secondly, Which Sim do i need, I have read somewhere that only O2 or Vodafone will work due to only having support for Analog, and not digital? I just tried an Orange sim, I got signal but the phone was crossed out?
Any help would be appreciated
Regards
Gary

I found it doesn't work by just putting the card in, you need to turn the unit off and back on for it to see the card properly

Hi Paul..
Not sure if it runs hands free as I have not got a sim for it yet,
I tried an orange one but no joy... Apparently it has to be O2 or vodafone
Where is your mic for the hands free then?
Hi Gary
i ordered a free payg from o2 and vodafone, the mic is in the dash cowling next to the oil pressure guage (far right), just reading the handbook and it says the handset is supplementary and you can still make handsfree calls but you cant swop from one to the other during a call
Hey thanks for that, I appreciate it...
Ive just been ranting on pistonheads / speed, plod and the law regarding how ridiculous this country is.. A tired taxi driver, who has worked 12 hours straight and has a pissed up guy about to puke is allowed to hold the cb radio mic to his face, or a traffic officer who is speeding through traffic, breaking the speed limit and dodging traffic lights can use the handset to his face.... Wonder if they have both recieved the same training.. or do they both have the same super human IQ that allows them to do these wonderous feats?
Anyway.. Ill get my windows tinted limo black, than all they can do is make me peel em off, no points, just a fine..
