The c16 is only used when using the nitrous it is never used as a primary fuel.

Suggestion

I am guessing that when temps are lower in the fall (as opposed to Atlanta temps in the summer) that car will easily run mid nines.

Suggestion

I'm confused why you guys need nitrous to run a nine (potentially) when the middle east guys have been running mid-nines with stock turbos and meth if the posts are correct.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I like the look of this 996: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...s-sn850141.jpg Notice how the bottom lights that is part of the bumper, is clear, instead of being a bright bold orange like the 1999 models? Is this basically a revision in the 2001 models or is it an OEM or 3rd party aesthetic mod?

POST 2Original post

How to make a Porsche 918 cry at the dragstrip? Take your tricked out 991 turbo & kick it's rear end! Watched the video on the 6speed homepage & the 2nd race was against a 991turbo, obviously modified that ran 136 & a 10.10 The 918 spent most of the run trying to catch up. Just wondering who's car it was & what mods they're running?? Very impressive

POST 3Original post

You have to reinstall your headlights and from the opening of the side markers you have to glue that orange plastic lense out piece by piece with a soldering iron. there should be some threads about that mod. protect the opening with some tape and then go. Its only a plastic lense inside...after that just put a orange blinking lamp inside..done I did that also with my headlights.... greets form germany Z

POST 4Original post

That is a Cobb tuned car that from what has been written was running water/meth injection, nitrous and leaded race gas (C16). Those are not things I would ever run in mine for obvious reasons but they sure do produce power. I am guessing that when temps are lower in the fall (as opposed to Atlanta temps in the summer) that car will easily run mid nines.

POST 6Original post

The car was on 93 octane, and for those passes was not using the nitrous. The c16 is only used when using the nitrous it is never used as a primary fuel. Best pass that car made was a 10.08 and best trap was 139 from what I am told. Thanks, Mitch

Quotes source post: 3835760

Quote: It was a mid-year change in model year 2000. If you have a 996 with the amber strip on the bottom, you can't just remove the amber strip. You need to buy new headlights. Then for an even cleaner look, you would need to remove the amber reflectors behind the turn signals using a soldering gun. Do a search for "amberdectormy." Here's how mine look after the amberdectomy.

POST 8Original post

Quote: 10.08 is an excellent time -- in fact it is a U.S. Record for the 991 Turbo/Turbo S especially on pump gas. What was the DA at the time of the run? I assume the heat was brutal given the run was in The Atlanta area. In the fall with owner temps that time should fall into the 9s. Was it using the water/meth injection kit? The previous US record was 10.265 by a GIAC Stage 2 991 TTS using race gas and r compound tires but no water/meth kit.

POST 9Original post

It was using the water meth kit as far as I know. No idea of the DA I heard the track temp alone was 130 degrees so the track was pretty bad. We will see I dont want to bench race. I am sure the customer will bring it back out and try in better conditions. Hopefully it gets faster! Thanks! Mitch

POST 10Original post

Quote: Atlanta in the summer means lousy ETs and traps due to mega heat. In the fall that car will be nicely into the 9s without nitrous or C16. Add those and it should do mid-low 9s

POST 11Original post

Now we're talking C7 Z06 territory! Those things can do mid-low 10's stock with the A8's in 'em. No crystal meth, no nitrous, no nothing. LOL Not too shabby for a car at half the price of a Turbo S!

POST 12Original post

I'm not so sure the leaded race gas is a good idea with the DFI engine. Obviously the owner isn't planning on keeping the car long. Forget about any warranty claim when that engine dies, Porsche won't cover anything.

POST 13Original post

Quote: With nitrous and C16 I can only assume the owner is using it as an event car and not daily driving it

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 4391634

Quote: Besides the fact that C16 will kill your O2 sensors and MAP sensor in no time...it is absolutely murder on the VTG vanes. Just a tank or two of C16 will do irreparable damage to the vanes.

POST 15Original post

I am pretty sure this customer is not so worried about the warranty haha! This car also does not run c16, it just uses it as a secondary fuel option for when the nitrous is on. Thanks, Mitch

POST 16Original post

Quote: For sure with that kind of equipment warranty must not be a concern. What is for certain is that is he uses all of the mods he has water-meth/nitrous/C16 he is set to break the world record quarter mile for the 991 TT and TTS.

POST 17Original post

I'm confused why you guys need nitrous to run a nine (potentially) when the middle east guys have been running mid-nines with stock turbos and meth if the posts are correct.

POST 19Original post

Quote: Those kind of times only seem to be achieved at the Middle Eastern tuner home tracks. When those cars run anywhere else they do more like mid tens.
