However there may also be a way to make the cluster brighter using the PIWIS as there were problems reading the numbers etc on the colored clusters so Porsche got round this by increasing the illumination on these types of clusters.

Yes I have a EU 987 with running daylight and would like to have the instrumental cluster illuminated when driving. I need help with the wiring on my 2005 Boxster. The wires that goes to the instruments. My idea is to cut it and tap the cluster illumination directly from a source lightning up when when engine running. Have just made the RS60 cluster modification and got all the cabels free. Can anyone tell me the illumination feed wire? It would be nice to have the stopwatch illuminated to, so the same questions here. i think it is the same wireing for the cluster for 987 2005 - 2007. Thanks in advance Anders T.

Is this a standard black face instrument cluster, or the flip flop Silver S cluster? The S cluster has it's own ambient light sensor that controls when it will illuminate and when it won't. The stopwatch can be programmed to stay illuminated using the PIWIS (by your dealer or Porsche shop). Contact Nick_USA for more detailed programming information.

From your member profile I note that you have a 987 S; I have known those who have covered the sensor on the instrument cluster to achieve the bright illumination when the lights are on. However there may also be a way to make the cluster brighter using the PIWIS as there were problems reading the numbers etc on the colored clusters so Porsche got round this by increasing the illumination on these types of clusters. I cannot recall the exact setting but I will look next time I have my PIWIS out. The stopwatch aka the 'wart' can be enabled as Gator refers by using the PIWIS. The coding is as follows: Control Unit = Chronometer Modify Coding => Illumination => There are two options and it should be obvious to which needs setting (my memory isn't perfect).
