I was planning to use the suction mount to place the V1 right below the rear view mirror, but I can shift it to the left a bit if needed.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I"ve read the great article on installing the wiring for the V1 in a Cayman. The V1 instructions say to avoid vertical wires in the windshield. In my 06 Cayman there is the small antenna wire right in the center of the windshield. Does anyone know if this thing wire poses any significant loss of rada/laser reception? I was planning to use the suction mount to place the V1 right below the rear view mirror, but I can shift it to the left a bit if needed. Any thoughts or advice would be most appreciated. Also, does anyone know if any of the mounts for the rear view mirror stem, like the Blendmount, will work with the Caymans odd shaped stem?

POST 2Original post

I have my V1 mounted right under the mirror with no issues for 2 years. It is fairly stealth as it appears to be somewhat integrated, viewed from the front or the rear and does not obstruct the drivers vision ahead.

POST 3Original post

Thanks SilverFox88. I doubted that such a fine wire would block much, but thought it would be best to ask. I really like the look of some of the mounts that attach to the rear view mirror stalk. Does anyone know of one that will work on the Cayman's oddly shaped one?
