Wanted to let you guys know about another suspension option for our cars: Automotive Suspension Experts | Fat Cat Motorsports, Inc. (aka FCM) The owner (Shaikh) is well known in the Miata community and I’ve personally had two of his setups in my older Miatas - both rode beautifully even with stiff spring rates. After much tweaking I was still not satisfied with the old aftermarket setup on my 987 and heard about FCM expanding into non-Miatas through a car buddy of mine who was very happy with his setup on his FD. Decided to check out what Shaikh had to offer for Caymans and after an initial consultation where I expressed my goals (handling without sacrificing ride comfort) I’ve bit the bullet and went ahead with the order. What Shaikh does it is take off the shelf setups, which in the case of 987 is a H&R street performance coil over, and customize the valving tailored to the customer’s goals. In my case, in addition to custom valving, we also ended up with slightly longer shock bodies in front, new springs front/rear along with new spring adapters in front as the ones supplied by H&R were subpar to put it mildly. End result is a setup that is firm, but not harsh, and rides and handles beautifully and I’m one happy camper. Customer service is also second to none with him being a call/text away pretty much anytime including weekends; he even made a house call when I was having issues with the spring adapters - helps that I’m local For those of you that are technical you can find wealth of information on his YouTube channel (suspension truth) with shock dyno plots and philosophy behind his tuning approach. I’ve deliberately left the name of my old setup as I didn’t want this thread to get derailed. Having options is good and wanted to let the community about another suspension alternative for our wonderful cars.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
