Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Okay... so 8 weeks and 2 days after my baby went away with it's blown coolant pipe it finally returned yesterday... Of course the first thing I did was jump in it and take it for a spin. On the first deployment of the rear spoiler the warning light came on indicating a fault with it. I was aware there was a slight leak on the right hand ram which was next on my list to tackle and address, but Murphy's law says it has to play up the day I get the car back... So anyway my plan of attack is to remove the rams and get them rebuilt and refitted. I'll probably get into thisin about 3 weeks time, but in themeantime I'm booked to go away for a few trips over the next few weeks and was hoping to take the car... I'll post my efforts on here with the repair as soon as I get into it as I know there is a few other members keen to see how it goes... But in the meantime I'm planning on just disconnecting the rear wing, so my question is... what is the best way to disconnect it... 1. Remove Fuse? 2. Unplug Spoiler? 3. Or some other way? Also can anyone please confirm that by unplugging this it will only affect the aerodymanics and is not in some other way connected into the electrical system and required for some other functions? Also I gather... it's a no brainer to disconnnect it in the down position? Cheers Kiwi

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmm, seems to have come right today... maybe it just needed to feel some tarmac under it's tyres... 8)

POST 3Original post

I think you would probably be best to pull fuse D7 to de-activate it. You will get the warning light and OBC error message, but if it only for a short while you can live with it, and it might be a good reminder anyway. I wouldn't pull the plug on the wiring loom, as the engine compartment fan is connected through the same plug. You can bypass the warning light, as if a fixed spoiler was fitted, but I doubt it is worth the hassle for a short period. If you want the instructions for the spoiler disassembly, drop me a PM with your email address.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Richard, as usual much appreciate your reply... if I get completely frustrated with it and need the instructions I'll come back to you. It seems to be running normal again now. So it's taken the immediate pressure off to tackle the problem, and allow me a little more time to work through the most appropriate solution. On a side note... it's great to have the car back after 2 months away... I took it for a good drive last night and enjoyed every moment... just an incredible car that does everything so very very well...
