I have been looking at exhaust options to replace my stock exhaust with 70K miles on it. CEL light kept coming on and I just didn't like the sound of it at low RPM. Decided on the Soul exhaust package after a lot of research on youtube! They are also about 20 minutes north of where I work. Picked it up last week and installed it this past weekend. Very easy install. Everything fit perfectly and the adjustments they have on it make it very easy it to center it perfectly. What a difference. I didn't want something that would be obnoxious for regular driving but when I got on it, I wanted to hear it. Well, I definitely hear it now! Sounds and feels incredible. Definitely picked up some acceleration in the 3-5K RPM range. It sounds like a full on race car at 5-7K. Very happy with the quality and ease of installation and no more CEL light.
Will take a video and post up when I get the chance. It has been raining non-stop here.
Congrats on the install. My indy told me much the same thing when he installed my headers. He'd assumed they be a b*tch, but they went on like OEM parts. And yes, the sound is incredible. It will just get better. My Soul Performance X-pipe exhaust tips shipped today, so I'll add my video too when everything is in place.
I am not an expert but I suspect something was wrong with your stock setup either bad oxygen sensors or plugged cats.
I know I had bad O2 sensors on the stock setup. I had swapped them to from Bank 1 to 2 to confirm that. Cats were fine. I just wanted to free up the exhaust and get better flow at low RPM. Question though, do you typically have to tune the engine to account for less backpressure once and after market exhaust is installed?
Thank your choosing us to upgrade your Porsche, glad to hear you are happy!
The ECU is capable of compensating for the changes to a point, with your current setup I wouldn't say there are any drawbacks running the car as is. You could extract more power by doing an ECU Tune which will make power not only through the increased exhaust efficiency but also due to dialing in more aggressive timing and fueling maps to extract maximum power. Most reputable tuners will back off before the tune gets too aggressive.
