Just got a
2012 Cayman S
BE and upgraded through
Porsche
to sport chrono plus. Advised by dealer that it would remove the
PSE
push button exhaust and replaced with sport+. Cost to upgrade with parts and service was around $1800. I probably could have shopped it around but wanted to get it done before I took a cross country trip in it. Anyone else do the upgrade and lose
PSE
push button?
Pic below is with push button
PSE
. Will add the after when they are done. Yes I am removing the antique phone holder.
BC3,
My 2010 BS came with Sport Chrono Plus, but no
PSE
. The buttons on mine (L2R) were: sport, sport plus, blank, stuff on the far right. I had
PSE
added by an Indie with Porche parts; now my buttons are sport, sport plus,
PSE
, blank, stuff on far right. There was some trouble and delay in the install as the Indie and
Porsche
NA Parts went back and forth on the correct buttons. But the above is where we ended up.
I had this done less than a year ago.

PS: Where did you get the phone mount; that might be a good one for a
Cobb
AP.
Thanks for the update. Do you have any audio of
PSE
button vs sport plus? I was told by
Porsche
that the
PSE
and sport plus mode will be integrated. The
PSE
changes the sound of the exhaust and position from what
Porsche
told me. They advised that when sport plus is engaged that it integrates into the
PSE
. I will keep you posted on the changes and difference in the upgrade. I really just wanted
launch
mode but we will see if I lose the awesome sound from
PSE
Button.
Nice car, congrats. I don't have
PSE
or
PASM
(model specific suspension on the R), which is your first button. I do have Sport and Sport+ as I ordered my car with Sport Chrono. Over on the right, is the PSM button. It does not make sense that you would need to engage Sport+ to get the valves to open on your exhaust - Sport+ is a pretty aggressive setting which I frankly never use on the street and at HPDE events, the instructors I've had preferred I use just Sport mode, again finding Sport+ too aggressive.
I know the guys at Soul Performance have a wireless remote to control the exhaust valve in their
PSE
equivalent - perhaps a solution like that would work so you can get the "enriched" exhaust note without having to engage Sport+.
Nevertheless - here's my pic - my phone mount is from Rennline.
Sorry - I see the weird photo rotation thing is back. Love the forum, very, very crappy platform....
Porsche
Sport Exhaust is changed to its Sport Mode (if equipped)
PSE
button is replaced with the sport button per several
Porsche
sites. Based on further conversations
PSE
could remain but it was standard from the factory it was either
PSE
or sport mode from what I have found online and talking to
Porsche
. I am seeing if my dealer will leave
PSE
switch or if I will need to see an Indy shop to add it back. I am asking for all of my old parts back just in case.
BC3,
Sorry, no audio of
PSE
vs Sport+. In my set-up, the
PSE
is completely independent of normal/Sport/Sport+. I drive 90% of time in Sport, 10% in normal, and very little in Sport+. The separate
PSE
function lets me get into/out of my neighborhood without disturbing my neighbors. ;-)
I recently took the
next
step by adding Fabspeed sport headers. So the independent operation of the
PSE
is even more critical. With the
PSE
valves closed it's very close to "normal," with them open, it's GLORIOUSLY LOUD!

I have Sport Chrono and
PSE
on my 2010
Boxster S
, and I have buttons for both. Sounds like the dealer ordered the wrong part# button bar...
Sport is great on the street. Sport+ is an absolute necessity for the track and competition, but not something you'll ever want to use on the street.
Going to pick up car this weekend. Dealer ordered wrong part and fixed it. I have both the
PSE
and chrono now. Will post pics soon.
