This is not a probability of success.

Do you mean when starting up the car when cold?It reads 5 then gradually when warmed up goes down to 2.5(Was checking today but will check if it's 2.5 maybe lower then that).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What pressure reading to do you guys see during 'power on' i.e. not idling for your oil? Mine shows 5. Given that this is the highest number on the scale I'm not sure if this is normal.

POST 2Original post

Do you mean when starting up the car when cold?It reads 5 then gradually when warmed up goes down to 2.5(Was checking today but will check if it's 2.5 maybe lower then that). Usually at throttle will be at 5. Regards. Mike

POST 3Original post

Same here. It stays pretty much at or just below 5 when running with any sort of throttle. I don't think you need to worry that it is at 5, the highest point, so long as it goes back down when you idle. If it stays at 5 when you idle, it may be stuck!!

POST 4Original post

Read the manual. Its in there.... 5 is normal.

POST 5Original post

same answer as above two. BTW same answer for my '89 GT too. Seems like when the oil pump works, it works the same way irrespective of model.

POST 8Original post

I don't know if I've become paranoid because the main oil seal in my '02 cab had to be replaced at the 15k service, but now I notice that when I'm at speed, the oil pressure sometimes flutters between 5 and 4. Is this significant or of any concern?
