I have double checked the brackets as wells as all clamps for tightness.

With that said, when I ordered the exhaust, the tips were on backorder, so I installed the exhaust with the factory tips.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hey, I think most of us agree that overall the AWE System is a great sounding exhaust. With that said, when I ordered the exhaust, the tips were on backorder, so I installed the exhaust with the factory tips. I loved the exhaust note, couldn't have asked for better results. Last week, after about two months with AWE exhaust/factory tips I received the awe tips. Porsche installed the tips for me last week. They look great, but the jury is still out on how the sound has changed. Upon normal take off, especially if I am parked next to another vehicle where the sound bounces back at me, I hear what I would discribe as a metallic rattling before the normal AWE exhaust note takes over. I also hear something like a slight "whooshing" sound over the normal exhaust sound at WOT throttle with the windows down. Now keep in mind when I say normal, I mean what I have come to know as normal, i.e. AWE/stock tips. I have double checked the brackets as wells as all clamps for tightness. The welds on the tips are solid. I also stood behind the car while someone else reproduced the "rattling sound" for me. This change in sound is definitely coming out of the tips. K-man S seems to think that maybe during the installation of the awe tips something was knocked loose in one of the cans. Is it possible for some of packing material to become dislodged causing a different sound. I guess my question will be for those awe users adding tips after adding the exhaust with the question being should installing tips cause a significant change in overall sound? For the record, my wife doesn't think it sounds like a rattle but she difinetly agrees it sounds "different". Any thoughts? Larry
