A friend and I are considering getting the AWE
exhaust
because of the reviews that state at cruising/idle rpms the
exhaust
is as the same or quieter than stock but screams when pushed. But our cruising RPMs are higher than those in the US because the maximum speed limit here in the UAE ranges from 140 to 160 kph which is 87mph and 100mph respectively. This means cruising rpm at say 100mph is between 4.8K and 5.8K. Those are pretty high RPMs and we do not want a noisy ride.
Any one have a video maybe? Tried it? Will try it?
thanks
4200rpm in 6th is 172km/h...
AWE is not quieter at idle, it is louder throughout the entire rpm range. You might check out the awe dyno pulls in the files area those videos you can download and listen to in order to get some idea of the sound.
I can almost swear its higher than that but ill take your educated post for it.
Which chart did you read off of?
Then which CS
exhaust
is quieter at idle yet louder when pushing it?
I'm not sure what you consider a quiet ride but my cat back is very livable at higher rpms. I would be surprised if any of them were actually loud enough to annoy you unless you were going with test pipes or race cats.
I would think some brave
soul
might be willing to find a small straight down in Mexico and put it to the test though.
We consider the current stock
exhaust
acceptably quite.
Lets hope some considerate
soul
would do that for the forum. I would gladly in exchange provide pictures of a red/yellow cayman anywhere
I'm still waiting for my AWE
exhaust
to come in...it was ordered over a month ago, and AWE said it would ship on July 2nd, but my shop hasn't seen it yet...
As it's just the cat back, I don't expect it to be too bad...I liked the sound in the video on the AWE website...
Milltek is "as quiet" at idle as the stock
exhaust
, I wouldn't say quieter, but certainly louder when you get on it. I don't know about Capristo yet, should know more tomorrow.
My exhause is pretty loud (AWE) at most if not all RPM's. It has a noticeable "drone" around 2K that requires a change in driving habits.
Having said all that, I love the
exhaust
, and the growl it provides at all those ranges.
Quiet however, it is not.
