Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was in this situation and there wasn't much in it....should I have convincingly pulled away? I guess there isn't that much difference in BHP?

POST 2Original post

The boxster S 05, 987 does 0-62 in around 5.6 seconds. The 996 C2 cab is much heavier compared to the 996 coupe. The 996 C2 coupe does 0-62 in around 5.0 seconds. However, your cab is quicker than the C4 cab as your's is around 0 - 62 5.5 seconds. Its a little bit quicker than the 267 HP boxster, that infact only dyno's at a round 220 BHP. Now, you have 300BHP vs a 267 BHP, similar 0-60 times, but as ive said on a long run, you will have the edge clearly. I think there is a video mate on youtube of a C4 vs a boxster 06 and the 996 is way way ahead at top end. The boxster may have had some slight mods on it,hard to tell really. But, the bottom line is 0-60 times, close.. top end, clear advantage to the 996. Also, the 996 takes bends way better than the best version of the boxster out there. The boxster poweband is around 15 and 45 mph, meaning that is where the boxster gets its main power. If it was a boxster and not a boxster S, its around 245 bhp and you should easily win regardless. The boxster is a quick car, better going from 15-70, rather than top end and corners. However, even tho the boxster has been given better HP and all sorts, its never a 911. Boxster 05 = 1345 kilograms C2 CAB = Weight 1395 kilograms As you can see, the boxster is lighter, but not faster. You will beat the boxster on everything, but 0-62 times are close. But, get your C2 remaped and take it from 300BHP to 322 hp and from 350Nm to around 370 Nm* of torque. + exhuast headers ect improve performance so much.

If you are looking at power gains, check this C2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSiXrz4GhF8&feature=related

POST 4Original post

If it was a 2005 987 Boxster S, it would be 280BHP, so not too different to a 3.4 996 at 300BHP. A C2 cab weighs 1395kg, and the Boxster 1345kg. I'll let you do the maths, but it isn't surprising it was a match for the 996.

POST 7Original post

My Fabspeed x-pipes have arrived and are waiting for me when I get back from (rainy) Singapore. The car currently has stainless headers and there is also a K&N induction kit waiting to be fitted too. Oh, and I have a set of muffler bypass pipes. I had already found this clip on youtube and have been replaying it plenty times. I hope I can get a nice blue flame out my exhaust too!! (See third run footage after the re-map, a nice blue flame out the exhaust a-la-F430). Once I have all the goodies fitted I'll get some real-life footage and not hard-to-gauge-dyno footage. I think it'll be pretty loud tho............. uh:

POST 8Original post

Wow, that sounds amazing. i cant wait to see the results. lucky man :thumb:

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I didn't notice an 'S' badge on the back - but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. The car was very loud. As we were accelerating, I could hear his exhaust noise over mine! Mine is a tip too, so maybe it wasn't pushing out max in each gear (not sure it is mapped to do that). Finally...that link to an upgrade above is for the 3.6 996, right?

POST 10Original post

3.4 as when it came in it was making 282bhp RWP . (300) A 3.6 does around 311 stock WRP. (320)
