Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am a fairly new 911 996 owner. I am a little worried that the oil gauge is not working on the dashboard. It says in the handbook that after each refueling the oil monitor should show. It did indeed do this, but I have noticed that on the last couple of fills the monitor has not come up. I have measured the oil level by the dipstick and it is fine. But I am worried that the gauge isn't showing. i must admit I haven't let the fuel level fall to far. Have I not let it fall enough?? The gauge used to come up after refueling srtaight away and then disappear after driving off. The time just shows now and no oil gauge. Can anybody help??

POST 2Original post

The oil level gauge should show for about 10 secs on turning on ignition. On filling (at least 1/2 tank) the gauge should show for 60 secs. The ignition triggered gauge should appear every time, if fuel door microswitch is defective the fueling setting may not trigger.
