Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I looked at many cars advertised as fitted with PSE, and they weren't.
Leading evidence: 'Install with pse, and they weren't' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean before selling' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

You would think he might give it a bit of a clean before selling.

Where is the best place to get a set & are they all the same fitment?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Could you experts please advise.
This is a 2003 Carrera 4 Cab - 3.6L model. I am looking at it from afar, not yet viewed but have a load of pictures. Is this a standard exhaust or a PSE, can you tell from the tailpipes?
Next one..... are these OEM Porsche alloys or reps? They appear to be Carrera 18"s - three of the alloys have 'Carrera' centre caps, one has a Porsche crest. The rear tyres are 285/30/18 Z 9 (seem to be very wide) - assume there is a staggered set up here. The ad says that tyres and alloys have just been replaced.
Thanks
Peter,
you can't tel if the exhaust system is a PSE simply by looking at the tailpipes as these just clip onto the silencers either side.
The PSE is really a modified silencer with a bypass port controlled by vacuum actuators, so in essence, you need to be able to view the silencers to ascertain if it's fitted with PSE.
Some PSE's are switchable and the switch will be one of the 6 switches on the central horseshoe console, marked by an exhaust tailpipe symbol.
Here's a photo of a silencer and a tailpipe so you can see how they fit together and that the tailpipe is a seperate entity.
Hope this helps....
I looked at many cars advertised as fitted with PSE, and they weren't. In fact, they hadn't even bypass modified mufflers (which some firms sell as an alternative to PSE, as PSE is quite alot of money for a 996).
I think alot of people put "sports exhaust" in their ad to haul in prospective buyers.
Indeed, they could be genuine in their belief that PSE is fitted when it's not. I've even seen this with some of the specialist car sale firms....
I can't really help you with the wheels, other than they will be "staggered" if you're referring to the rears being wider than the fronts, this is how they are. Someone on the forum will be able to help in due course I'm sure.... :thumb:
Those wheels are the carrera III wheel as fitted to the 997 carrera 2 or 4 the fronts will be 8Jx18 ET 57 and the rears will be either 10Jx18 ET 58 or 11Jx18 ET 51.
Sorry to hi-jack the thread but I want to get hold of some coloured centres. Where is the best place to get a set & are they all the same fitment? :?:
I have the 18" Sport designs (GT3) alloys.
See here:

I reckon Code: 99936100070 & Code: 99936100040 are the best ones
:thumb:
You are right about having some coloured crest centres.
It is a poor show that three of the alloys have 'Carrera 4' centres and the fourth the plain porsche crest (the pic above). It somehow puts me off the car, if I had been a fastidious owners (or trader) I would have made sure they were all identical.
I like the alloys though, they really suit the car/colour.
@OP: re the PSE - if there is a picture of the engine bay or centre dash you can post up? you should be able to see a 'y' vacum pipe located near the pentosin reservoir similarly the the centre dash will have a switch on it.

Just found the advert for this car. It needs loads of TLC, it seems it has been a little unloved or owned by someone who had it bought for them.
The passenger side door pocket has marks on it, this would indicate maybe other trim could be tatty. You really need to scan over it, these tatty trim bits will pee you off, replacing them ain't cheap.
I would try knocking down by £2k at least for all these niggly bits, dirty engine, marked trim, odd cap & what ever else you find. It looks well otherwise.
I think I know where that is being sold (from the background of the pictures). If it is where I think it is then I had some interesting emails sent to me by previous customers when I asked about a car they had for sale.
