Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

- end of 2003: VW's 250HP V6 engine fitted on the cayenne.
Leading evidence: 'Install on the cayenne' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install on the cayenne' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

What if in any given race class you could also run a diesel but with no limits size wise or anything else (turbo/super charging).

I'm sure they can finance it just like the cayenne: with the 911/Boxer profits (i.e us) and by pulling out of practically all motorsports and renouncing to using "car racing" as a tool for development of their street models (whos main idea of a sport car company was that anyway, oh right, Dr.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Guess what guys,
I just learnt that a "diesel engine" Cayenne will be out in beginning of 2004! either VW's V10 or Audi's V8.
I never though of I'd see that day in which I would come across a "Porsche" in the gas station with the diesel pump plugged in <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" />
BTW, seems like the new 911 (997) that is due end of 2004 will still have a 3.6l 320HP engine and the 3.8l 350HP engine is for the later 911"S" version.
Also they are working on a double cluth which may allow a secuential shift for this 911S.
Other expected dates are:
- beginning of 2003: new 996GT3.
- summer 2003: Carrera GT and cabrio versions of the C4S and TT.
- end of 2003: VW's 250HP V6 engine fitted on the cayenne.
- spring 2005: 997 cabrio.
- summer 2005: new boxer (roadster version)

Diesel in a truck, what's so strange about that?
Fact that they are building this damn thing is worth of crying, not what kind of engine it has.
Yeah, but just when I was starting to get over the fact that Porsche was getting into the "truck business", now a "diesel" version is expected. Ill have to start therapy all over again
They may gain a lot of "customers" but they will loose a lot of the "fans" they gained back when Porsche used to participate and rule in motorsports (rally's, F1, Sport-Prototype...
those where the days)
I wonder when the electric-powered Porsche hatchback will be out?

Carlos - latest version of Car (UK) indicated:
1. VW / Porsche relationship is a rather frigid one presently. Porsche is displeased that Touareg has higher quality interior at significantly lower price point than Cayenne. Displeasure compounded by VW/Audi Group decision to proceed with Audi version.
2. PAG board had taken decision not to proceed with any "non-Porsche" engines in Cayenne.
FWIW: Recall comments by either PCNA or PAG that diesel engine is incompatible with Porsche heritage... (and yes i appreciate the irony...)
Talk about "opening up" engineering!!! What if in any given race class you could also run a diesel but with no limits size wise or anything else (turbo/super charging). That would really change... oh say Formula One, for instance. You'd see the BMW motor being passed by a diesel!!! Ferrari's eating diesel fumes!!!! What an engineering challange! What a rules nightmare!!!! What rich fodder for car guy discussions !!!
I wouldn't worry about a competitive diesel sportcar because in order to obtain similar HP to the gasoline engines, the diesel engine would be too large, very very heavy and very slow-reving (totally the oposite to an 18,000RPM reving, small, 2,000lb F1).
Thats why diesel combustion engines will never make it to motorsport, and are only good for slow cars, truks, trains, boats and tractors due to their good milage and torque.
