Ive never really looked at the exhaust on my 911, but going off my previous cars, ive had this happen to me before and i replaced the sagging clip, causing it to rattle about a little.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys,
Got my beloved car back at last, and been gently running the engine in after its overhaul.
All is good there, however the slight occasional rattle from the exhaust (the opc said it was a baffle) has now become fairly constant at low revs / idle, its a standard c2 '01 exhaust. After reading some threads here I see its possible for a good welder to open, reattach and seal.
My question really is, is this worth it, or should i find a replacement? I was also keen at looking at getting the baffle bypass done anyway, is this something that can be done at the same time without much more hassle?
Pretty poor at the moment following the engine bill, but really want to get this sorted, I saw on ebay you can get the muffler units with the bypass done from Sommerfield Porsche Tuning in germany
ebay link
Or is there another option I havent considered?
Thanks as always 8)
Oli
otelle in germany do the same thing cheaper, with 12 mnths guarentee for around £380 delivered here

If OPC said it's the baffle, then it probably is. I would have thought it was a loose exhaust clip maybe? Ive never really looked at the exhaust on my 911, but going off my previous cars, ive had this happen to me before and i replaced the sagging clip, causing it to rattle about a little.
The muffler bypass is very cheap to do, but very loud. Well worth it from what ive seen on youtube.
Its definitely coming from inside the box..
Great one with the otelle link!
Anyone got these fitted? Whats the result like? Is it asbo loud, i take it tracks dont like em?
I have fitted something similar

not very loud, just right.... best upgrade I have made in a long time...
They can get water in them and rot through, so is likely as the car gets older.
However, I would double check something as mine did the same as you describe.
Just tap the exhaust tip with your fingers and see if it makes the same noise - it's also very likely that the exhaust tip has come lose. That isn't a clip, but a bolt that goes through the tip and exhaust (and a devil to source on it's own!!).
