I'm not a fan of ecu mods and have only leased a few vehicles but they were never closely checked when returning them.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I was just thinking if anyone here has had any experience with a leased car through Porsche Financial and upgraded ECU's, etc.? I know since it is a lease, I would have to return the car to its original form, but I was thinking to install a GIAC ECU upgrade coupled with a cold air intake, but did not want to risk any backlash from Porsche Financial, even though the installer is willing to revert the vehicle back to stock before I turn in the car at the end of the lease. Anyone here had any experience/issues with this? I have a 2007 Cayman S FYI. Thanks in advance!

POST 2Original post

Your lease agreement will be the determining factor should there be a challenge. If you are leasing another car from the same dealer I'd bet not, if there haven't been any problems I'd bet not, if the car has been abused in other ways then the modified ecu could be an issue. So it all depends on your dealer and your relationship with them and how carefully they go over the car. I'm not a fan of ecu mods and have only leased a few vehicles but they were never closely checked when returning them. So I wouldn't worry about that part of it.
