Suggestion
Contacted my insurer and they could not care less if they are N rated, in the process of chnaging tyres...see my Bridgestone thread..so i could save myself a small fortune by not having N rated tyres..i also use the car daily and never track it

I also use my car every day, and there are sections when I can get pretty close to 150.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been gathering advice and info from this site since purchasing my first 911 C4 about 18months ago. Since purchase I have been ripping through various N rated tyres in about 8K miles on the rear. After dusting off my last pair of Michelin Pro Sport 2's which cost £505 i started to question this whole N rating thing. Did a bit of research on here, nothing conclusive so thought sod it and took the plunge on a pair of Falcon F453's at a mere £270 for the pair. Nearly half the price of the Michelins and 9K miles in still got loads of tread, at least 5mm, and handle just as well on public roads as any N rated tyre i've tried. Probably wouldn't recommend them on the track but if you use your 911 as a daily driver like me, save yourself a small fortune and go for the Falcon's! They look good as well.
Thought i'd share this with you all as this forum has helped me out a few times!
Cheers

mmmm..... interesting thread but I guess it comes down to driving style.
I also use my car every day, and there are sections when I can get pretty close to 150. There are also sections when I can hoof it around fairly tight bends. Not sure I'd want to compromise on that type of speed and handling without an N rated tyre, but I'm not familiar with the Falcon's.
Would be interested to learn whether you've opened it up on the motorway at all, or whether you've really tested them on a hairy bend??
Mind you, I'm having cups fitted tomorrow so who am I ..... ??
lol!!
I've done plenty of track days on non-N-rated tyres, I don't have any doubts that non-N-rated tyres can be equal or superior to N-rated.
And yes I think N-rating is a bit misleading, but its been discussed here dozens of times ...
Interesting....whilst having my PPI prior to purchasing the 996tt I was told that the car had 1 non N rated tyre which needs to be change? I was told that som eInsurance comps insist on it....not sure how true it is as £230+ a corner is getting expensive.
Cheers
I called my insurers (Aviva) before I switched to non-N rated tyres, and they told me that as long as the tyres were the same size, speed, and load rating there was no problem at all. Glad I switched. Instead of the 4000 miles I was getting from the Contis on the rear, I have now got over 4000 on the Yokos and they look good for another 5-6000 at least.
