Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My next step is take the car in into a good indy and get them to reprogram the keys and check the Central locking, but before I do that I just wanted to check if there was anything else I could try or is my assessment of two dead key fobs correct?

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My remote stopped working the other day (randomly - it had worked two hours before) and I followed the manual: Unlocked the door with the key then removed the key and pressed the remote.
So, had my first issue yesterday - all was well with the car when I reuturned and the remote key would not unlock the car, so did it manualy, alarm went off until I put it in ignition. Having checked the manual (not very helpful) and this \nd other forums (much more helpful) I have tried the following:
1) Unlocked the car manually and with the key still in the driver door pushed the lock/unlock button
2) Put key in ignition and pressed the lock/unlock buton twice
3) Key in ignition, out again and within 6 seconds hit L/UL button
4) replaced battery - then tried all of the above
5) Reversed polarity of battery (in key fob) for 10 seconds and then put back correctly - then tried all of the above
6) all of the above with the spare key
I am most troubled by the fact that the spare key does not work either - seems too big a coincidence?
Occassionally during my many attempts I did get a single beep from the horn, as well as the fact that manual unlocking does not open the passanger door and the filler cap will not lock.
My next step is take the car in into a good indy and get them to reprogram the keys and check the Central locking, but before I do that I just wanted to check if there was anything else I could try or is my assessment of two dead key fobs correct?
Cheers

My remote stopped working the other day (randomly - it had worked two hours before) and I followed the manual: Unlocked the door with the key then removed the key and pressed the remote. The door then locked again with the remote and everything worked once more. If this doesn't work for you then perhaps something is wrong.
Thanks GT4 - I had read your posts and tried all (and more) variations - I guess it's two new remotes then :-( was just hoping there might be something I had missed.
I have seen various posts about the cost of this ranging form a couple of hundred quid to a "5 minute job" whats the consensus?
thanks again
Unfortunately you cannot reprogram a remote without the 24-digit bar code tag which was supplied with the original key, so you will likely have to get two new key heads. The blade can be swapped from the old key.
These are £82.70+VAT each, plus any re-programming charge. To program the alarm module for the new remotes, the Porsche IPAS security codes are required. An indy should be able to get these if you want to take it there.
Thanks Richard,
have now spoken to a good local Indy - unfortunately they also need the V5, which having only got the car 2 weeks ago is still with DVLC, so gonna have a couple of weeks of manual unlock and race to beat the alarm.
appreciate the help
